Job description

Job Description

At General Motors, our Image Processing/LVM Controller Systems organization enables other engineering and quality teams to deliver reliable vehicle-viewing and low-speed maneuvering features by providing system validation, automation, bench and vehicle testing, integration support, diagnostics, and release evidence. Our team is dedicated to quality validation and system integration for GM's camera-based viewing and low-velocity maneuvering features that enhance how customers interact with their vehicles.

By joining us, you will have the opportunity to support our Image Processing/LVM Controller Systems initiative and help deliver high-quality viewing experiences to our consumers. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, collaborate with talented teams, and help drive impactful projects that make a difference in the exciting field of camera and viewing experiences.

The Role:

This is a senior quality engineering role, and we are looking for individuals who have demonstrated success in validating and maintaining large-scale, complex systems. Our engineers have a passion for quality, efficiency, and reliability to help us accelerate and innovate in this exciting and critical space. Our team believes in extreme ownership where we manage the scale, availability, and operations for our camera viewing features.

As a senior quality engineer, you'll be partnering with teams across the Software and Services organization, including IVC/camera and calibrations, Test Automation/Jenkins, Bench, Lab, and Vehicle Automation, and Quality Defect Triage teams to identify dependencies, drive issues to closure, and provide the end-to-end validation deliverable.

A successful member of the Image Processing/LVM Controller Systems organization demonstrates customer focus, a drive for results, and the ability to work effectively through ambiguity, evolving requirements, and unclear definitions. You will influence change, take ownership of system-level test strategy across bench and vehicle environments, explore opportunities to add value to job responsibilities, and continue to develop critical skills and technical expertise.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for new and existing viewing software features
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency, repeatability, and coverage
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing to validate viewing software quality and requirements on both bench and vehicle environments
  • Debug and troubleshoot system-level failures across vehicle and bench environments
  • Conduct performance and load testing to identify bottlenecks and support improvements in application scalability and reliability
  • Identify, document, log, and track software defects using bug-tracking and test management tools, collaborating closely with developers to drive resolution
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to integrate automated testing into continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Work cross-functionally with product managers, software developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality viewing system software
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Test Engineer, Software Integration Engineer, or relevant work experience
  • Hands-on experience testing both development vehicles and hardware/software test benches
  • Experience owning system-level test planning, execution, defect triage, and release-readiness activities
  • Experience in scripting for automation and experience with at least one test framework such as Autobot
  • Experience building or maintaining automated regression tests and integrating them with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
  • Ability to troubleshoot across hardware, embedded software, vehicle signals, calibration, and test infrastructure
  • Experience with Vehicle communication protocols, including CAN, OBD-II, LIN, and Ethernet
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira/Xray, test traceability, and structured defect reporting.
  • Ability to distinguish product defects from configuration, calibration, automation, bench, and vehicle-environment issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with software, hardware, calibration, HMI, vehicle-integration, and lab teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
