Job description

Sr. Unix/Linux Systems Administrator

Job Location: Boca Raton, FL

Job Duration: Contract through June 2022 + extension

UNIX Operations team is searching for a candidate who is proficient within a LINUX (Red Hat) and UNIX (Solaris) environment. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience within systems administration, along with knowledge of physical infrastructure and hardware such as Dell PowerEdge M/R servers, and Sun/Oracle T-Series. This candidate will provide UNIX support for the UNIX estate of around 400 servers. We are looking for a good communicator and a problem-solving individual. Responsibility will encompass both operational support of the UNIX estate, system maintenance (OS patching), and storage migration work where necessary.

Required Skills:

  • RHEL Linux 7 administration/patch management.
  • Solaris 11 administration/patch management.
  • LDOM management on T7 hardware.
  • Linux Server builds and custom configurations.
  • Performance tuning of Oracle database servers.
  • Server Security vulnerability management.
  • SolarWinds monitoring.
  • Ansible playbook and Puppet module development.
  • Satellite 6 management and upgrades.
  • Ansible tower management and upgrades.
  • VMware operational knowledge.
  • Good Knowledge on automation.
  • Good Knowledge on server migrations.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong skills in TCP/IP networking, network topology and firewalled environments.

Unix/Linux Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Advanced system tunings to application specific requirements. Systems standardization and automation.
  • Keeping the UNIX environment compliant with the technology roadmap, such as OS & hardware upgrades, 3rd party software upgrades.
  • Work on incident tickets and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Remediate Secunia OS vulnerabilities as required by regular security audits.
  • Perform quarterly patching of RedHat and Solaris servers to ensure systems are compliant and pass strict PCI security requirements as dictated by regular audits from security team.
  • Interface with IT and business clients at all levels of the organization.
  • Rotating on-call Unix/Linux support in a 24X7 environment.
  • Participate in evaluation and POC of new backup infrastructure.
  • Research and development of new technology as required by business initiatives and management vision.
  • Documentation of work.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
