Job description

Lutheran Services Carolinas

Lutheran Services Carolinas is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our mission-driven organization. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, supporting financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supervising accounting team members while partnering closely with the Controller.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations and supervise accounting, accounts payable, and payroll/benefits teammates.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly closings, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.ย 
  • Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial statements and annual audits.
  • Establish and maintain financial systems and controls that ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Support special projects, financial analysis, and management reporting initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership and operational teams to support organizational goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including managerial experience.ย 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.ย 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.ย 

Preferred

  • CPA license and/or advanced degree.ย
