Description
The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctionalfacilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of theCommonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out themandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquireskills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
The Luther Luckett Correctional Complex is seeking applicants for a Facility Maintenance Supervisor I positiontoperform maintenance duties on the grounds of the institution and determines work assignment to the inmateworkers assisting in maintenance responsibilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Identifies maintenance needs or repairs and performs basic repairs of plumbing, electrical, and othermaintenance issues.
  • Prioritizes and verifies completions of work orders.
  • Requisition maintenance tools and supplies and needed.
  • Supervises and assists offenders in daily maintenance and repair tasks while maintaining a safe andsecure working environment.
  • Tracks assignment of tools and parts.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Three years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):NONE
Working Conditions
Will be on call 24 hours a day. Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
