Lunar Outpost is dedicated to creating a sustainable presence in space, while also driving a positive impact here on Earth. We are seeking a Systems Engineer - Human Factors to help us make the future of lunar surface mobility in a fast-paced startup environment. As a Systems Engineer - Human Factors, you focus on the design and evaluation of human spaceflight systems and the enhancement of the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of astronaut operations. You will be focused on the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), the cutting-edge crewed and autonomous mobility platform that will drive NASA astronauts, carry payloads, and build key infrastructure on the lunar surface. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and assess systems that optimize human performance in spaceflight environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply human factors requirements to spacecraft development and track requirements to completion
  • Provide human systems expertise to the design and development of spacecraft vehicles
  • Conduct Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing by developing test plans, conducting data collection and analysis, and demonstrating effective program management
  • Analyze test data, generate test reports, and incorporate feedback with vehicle design, crew training, and mission operations teams
  • Conduct specialized analyses, such as hazard analysis, human error analysis, crew task analysis, and vehicle handling qualities, to ensure synchronization of crew needs and capabilities with vehicle performance
  • Support development and verification planning/testing

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human factors engineering or a related field
  • Experience in human factors engineering, preferably in aerospace or related industries
  • Familiarity with human-in-the-loop testing methodologies
  • Team-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • U.S. Persons

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in human factors or related discipline
  • Experience working with NASA
  • Knowledge of spacecraft systems and operations
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and human performance modeling tools
