Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled transmission analyst to join our Transmission Trading team. As an analyst in Transmission Trading team, you will play a crucial role in developing, implementing and refining analytical models to improve our transmission trading strategies and profitability.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide transmission risk Point of view to groups such as CAISO/MISO/PJM Power Trading, Origination and Development for commercial operations and Regulatory to improve the performance of the market and reliability of the system
  • Support the renewable project development efforts related to interconnection analysis
  • Perform all tasks while following all external regulations and internal risk policy of Vistra Corp

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Economics. Advanced degree is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of electric power system
  • Robust mathematical skill and ability to process large amounts of information to synthetize it into actionable commercial decisions
  • Thorough knowledge of the power grid physics and market structures in CAISO/MISO/PJM
  • Strong programming skills in any languages such as Python, R, SAS
  • Experience or coursework in the following areas are applicable to above skills:
    • Power system modeling and Steady state power flow analysis (powerworld or PSSE experience)
    • Production Cost modeling (SCUC, SCED and nodal theory etc)
    • Statistics, probability and machine learning
    • Algorithm and process design
