About Us

American Trade Group, Inc. is a diversified organization supporting the construction and building industries through a portfolio of companies that includes American Lumber, a leading manufacturer and wholesale distributor; Lane One Transport, a transportation and logistics company; and Rafter 12 Custom Homes.

Founded in 1986, American Trade Group has built a strong history of consistent year‑over‑year growth. American Lumber has been recognized as an Aggie 100 company, honoring the fastest‑growing businesses owned or operated by Texas A&M University alumni—a reflection of our entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence.

At American Lumber, our mission—We Cut Through Challenges so You Can Focus on Success—guides the work we do every day. Driven by our vision to Build a Stronger America, One Solution at a Time, we focus on solving real problems, supporting our partners, and building long‑term relationships. Our culture is grounded in our core values of Service, Innovation, and Partnership, with a shared commitment to collaboration, growth, and operational excellence.

The Role

We are seeking a hands‑on, results‑driven Production Manager to lead daily operations within our lumber remanufacturing plants (BLR/TLR). This role is responsible for executing the production plan, managing personnel, maximizing throughput, minimizing downtime, and ensuring product quality and safety standards are consistently upheld.

The Production Manager serves as the critical link between strategic production planning and frontline execution—directing, communicating, and actively managing operations in real time to ensure production goals are achieved. This position reports to the Plant Manager and directly oversees Production Leads and hourly team members.

What You’ll Do

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performance team environment
  • Promote open communication across shifts, teams, and departments
  • Support onboarding, mentoring, cross‑training, and employee development
  • Partner with HR on employee relations, performance management, and compliance

Production & Operational Execution

  • Execute daily production plans using Theory of Constraints (TOC) principles
  • Actively manage line operations in real time, monitoring output, labor, quality, yield, and downtime
  • Identify bottlenecks and adjust staffing or workflow to maximize throughput
  • Track labor utilization, material waste, and overall production performance

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Champion a strong safety culture and enforce all safety SOPs (PPE, Lockout/Tagout, etc.)
  • Conduct safety walks, meetings, and toolbox talks; address unsafe conditions immediately
  • Ensure adherence to product specifications, grading standards, labeling, and SOPs
  • Investigate defects, resolve issues, and drive continuous process improvements

Equipment, Performance & Facility Management

  • Track and analyze downtime; partner with Maintenance on root cause solutions
  • Monitor recurring issues and support preventive maintenance efforts
  • Utilize systems and reports to track performance and communicate key metrics
  • Maintain clean, safe, and “visitor‑ready” facilities and support audit readiness

Who You Are

Education & Experience

  • Prior experience in manufacturing, production management, or industrial operations required
  • Experience in lumber, remanufacturing, or similar production environments preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to direct and motivate teams
  • Operational mindset with a focus on efficiency, throughput, and continuous improvement
  • Analytical problem‑solver with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Solid understanding of safety practices and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, real‑time environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality and process consistency
  • Comfortable using production tracking systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Competitive compensation aligned with your experience
  • Stable, growing organization with a strong track record of success
  • Opportunity to lead and impact daily plant operations
  • Collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation
  • Clear path for professional growth within a diversified organization

Application Requirements

Final candidates may be asked to complete a practical or skills‑based assessment as part of the selection process.

If you are a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about driving efficiency, safety, and quality, we encourage you to apply. Join American Lumber and play a key role in delivering operational excellence and building a stronger future.
