Job description

Load Securement Duties:
  • Instruct drivers on proper securement techniques for various load types
  • Demonstrate securement procedures and explain load-specific methods
  • Evaluate driver securement performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Ensure all training meets FMCSA regulations and internal policy requirements
  • Reinforce customer-specific securement policies and safety expectations

Road Instructor Duties:
  • Conduct in-cab evaluations and real-time road instruction
  • Provide feedback on driver handling, speed management, lane control, and safety practices
  • Train drivers on pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Address any driving-related performance concerns with timely coaching and retraining
  • Uphold and model safe driving behavior and company expectations

  • Cargo inspection and working load limits
  • Proper use of chains, straps, ropes, and tarping techniques
  • Securement of coils, lumber, wire, rebar, containers, and sheetrock
  • Job site and roadside safety protocols
  • Defensive driving practices and FMCSA compliance
  • Pre-trip inspections and vehicle operation standards

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with flatbed load securement and over-the-road driving
  • Instructional or training experience in a safety or driving environment preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and correct behaviors
  • Basic computer literacy to log training progress and complete reports
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability to work outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions (when safe)
  • Certifications in OSHA, TIA, or similar safety programs a plus

Work Environment:
This position requires full-time, in-person presence due to the hands-on nature of training and coaching. Collaboration with safety, driver development, and operations teams is essential for prompt issue resolution, coaching interventions, and supporting ongoing driver success.
Due to the collaborative nature of the work environment, the spontaneous need for idea generation and execution, and the potential for expedited remediations, responses, or information gathering, in-person, in-office attendance is an essential function of this position.
