Material Handler (Loading/Unloading Trucks) 1st Shift

Cleveland Steel Container, an Employee Owned and World Class Steel Pail Manufacturing company, is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and customer-oriented individual that has a positive attitude and shares the values of our company culture, which is built around teamwork, family, honest communication and producing desirable results for our Streetsboro, OH manufacturing facility.

Shift hours:

M-F 6:00am – 4:30pm

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Load trucks for daily shipment
  • Secure loaded trailers
  • Complete Bills of Lading
  • Daily inspection of forklift and semi's
  • All 4 season's daily outdoor procedure (lock/chock procedure)
  • Copying documents
  • Use of glad hand locks
  • Time sensitive daily activities
  • Unload inbound deliveries
  • Move required stock throughout the plant as needed to maintain production.
  • Load and unload trucks as necessary via forklift, hand jack, etc.
  • Set up the pail line as required.
  • Preventative maintenance requirements daily, weekly and monthly for all equipment.
  • Ensure all proper housekeeping is completed for specific workstation and surrounding area of the shipping department.
  • Ensure all safety requirements are maintained for the equipment and in the surrounding area.
  • Maintain all required tools for successful performance of job duties.
  • Understand and complete the quality procedures and verifications for this position.
  • Responsible for correct labeling and accurate counts of material.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5 years forklift truck loading experience
  • Safe navigation of a forklift
  • Able to work on a team
  • Fast paced
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
  • OSHA forklift certification is a plus
  • Reading comprehension (loading documents)
  • Basic math skills
  • DOT truck weight balancing and safe loading with a variety of heights, weights and footprints
  • Attention to details (Accuracy)
  • Light computer skills (Oracle)
  • Problem solving
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Multi-task and prioritize activities
