Common Search/ComparisonLSRP vs Social Worker

The main difference between an LSRP and a Licensed Social Worker lies in their credentials, work environment, and industry focus. LSRPs are licensed professionals specializing in environmental remediation, while Licensed Social Workers focus on providing social services in healthcare and community settings. Their roles are distinct but both require specific licensing and serve different industries.

What are some common challenges Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) face when managing multiple remediation projects simultaneously?

LSRPs often manage several remediation projects at once, which can present challenges such as coordinating between various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with evolving environmental regulations, and balancing tight project timelines. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential for prioritizing tasks and addressing unexpected site conditions. Additionally, LSRPs must stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and maintain detailed documentation to ensure successful project outcomes and regulatory approval.

What are LSRPs?

LSRP stands for Licensed Site Remediation Professional. An LSRP is an environmental professional licensed by the state of New Jersey to oversee and guide the cleanup of contaminated sites. LSRPs ensure that remediation work complies with all applicable regulations and standards, facilitating site closure and redevelopment. They are responsible for protecting public health and the environment during the remediation process and must follow strict ethical and technical guidelines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP), you need a strong background in environmental science or engineering, extensive experience in site remediation, and a valid LSRP license. Familiarity with environmental regulatory systems, remediation technologies, and relevant software tools such as GIS and data management platforms is crucial. Exceptional analytical thinking, ethical decision-making, and effective communication skills distinguish top performers in this field. These skills and qualifications ensure that contaminated sites are remediated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Job Description

Location: Princeton, NJ

Are you a senior consultant ready to build a book, grow a market, and lead a team? Weโ€™re hiring a Principal Engineer / Environmental Scientist / Geologist with an LSRP license to team with us to grow our office located in the vibrant, historical college town of Princeton, New Jersey. The Princeton location provides easy rail and highway access to New York City and Philadelphia, making it a great setting both for employees and for client meetings. This is a growth role for a seller-doer leader: youโ€™ll set the go-to-market approach, open doors with
new and existing clients, and deliver high-impact workโ€”supported by strong technical resources and collaborative colleagues.

Weโ€™re looking for an established Principal with 20+ years of consulting experience, and a track record of winning and expanding client work who has demonstrated experience as a New Jersey LSRP, including providing technical and regulatory guidance to clients in the role of a retained LSRP, preparing and submitting Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) and Spill Act associated documents, forms, reports, and applications, and leading technical consultations with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).

Your new role

As a Principal, youโ€™ll serve as a trusted advisor and market-facing growth leaderโ€”owning priority accounts, developing new client relationships, and building a durable pipeline for the region. Youโ€™ll pair technical credibility with commercial leadership to help clients manage environmental risk, meet regulatory obligations, and advance sustainability goals across sectors such as manufacturing, commercial/industrial, government, energy, legal and financial services, and insurance.

Your key responsibilities will be:

โ€ข   Drive growth: build and execute a regional client development plan; cultivate relationships and open new opportunities.
โ€ข   Win work: qualify leads, shape scopes, price strategically, and lead proposals/interviews through close.
โ€ข   Grow accounts: deepen trusted-advisor relationships, identify cross-sell opportunities, and expand multi-service programs.
โ€ข   Lead delivery: oversee complex engagements (scope/schedule/budget/quality) and bring the right experts to solve client challenges.
โ€ข   Build the team: mentor and develop staff, support recruiting, and create repeatable delivery and sales playbooks.
โ€ข   Represent the firm: engage with clients, regulators, and industry groups; speak/publish as appropriate to raise visibility.

About you

From the moment you start at Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you can continue to grow with the company. While we look forward to supporting your continued learning and development, for this role we have identified some qualifications, skills, and capabilities that will set you up for success.

These include:

โ€ข   15+ years in environmental consulting with progressive leadership responsibility.
โ€ข   Business development successโ€”evidence of consistently winning work (e.g., annual sales targets achieved, repeatable proposal wins, measurable account growth).
โ€ข   A strong professional network in New Jersey and an existing book of business.
โ€ข   Strong program/project leadership (scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk) and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary team.
โ€ข   In-depth knowledge of NJDEP environmental regulations and Technical Guidance and application to real-world situations.
โ€ข   Relevant degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, chemistry, or a related field; professional certifications/licensure (e.g., LSRP, PE, PG).

Why this role

โ€ข   Growth runway: define and expand our New Jersey market presence with leadership visibility.
โ€ข   Seller-doer platform: autonomy to lead pursuits plus support from technical specialists and delivery teams.
โ€ข   Strategic influence: shape offerings, pricing, and account strategies that drive repeatable growth.
โ€ข   Leadership opportunity: mentor talent, help recruit, and build a practice with staying power.
โ€ข   Flexibility & balance: hybrid work options.
โ€ข   The long-term thinking of a foundation-owned company
โ€ข   Competitive base pay and incentive programs
โ€ข   Support of external memberships, conference and engagements

If youโ€™re excited by the chance to build a market, grow client partnerships, and lead a high-performing team, we encourage you to apply.
