Job description


The Hydrogen Isotope Science Group at the Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated intern with at least three years of college coursework in a STEM field to join the American Science Cloud Genesis Program. The selected candidate will support the development and maturation of Inertial Fusion Energy technologies by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced computational tools. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research at the intersection of national security, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy. Basic knowledge in AI tools and data analysis is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develops partnerships with internal team members.
  • Able to communicate well in straight-forward situations.
  • Understands their own job and how the role interacts with their team.
  • Completes routine and repetitive tasks where tasks are straightforward.
  • Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
Minimum
  • Must be a U.S. citizenship.
  • Completion of at least three years of college coursework in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.

Preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science principles.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
