EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school education or the equivalent.

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

The Helper is responsible to assist the Operator in all areas of manufacturing a quality product as efficiently as possible.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and loading of empty reels, pulling completed reels from the take-up, retrieving raw materials, loading completed reels into the storage, assist in setting up the line on changeovers and assist in scrapping defective cable, and generally support the Operator in the continuous operation of the Jacket line, as well as, performing routine housekeeping duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Assist to prepare, load, unload, and store process reels.  
  • Retrieve raw materials and assist in loading them as the process requires.  
  • Assist in disposition of non-conforming products.
  • Observe material and insulated wire while line is running and alert the Operator if line is running out of tolerance.  
  • Assist Operator in setting up line for product changeovers and after wire breaks.  
  • Assist in maintaining a clean work area (general housekeeping).
  • Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:  

  • Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.  
  • Must be able to move about freely in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Must be able to qualify as a lift operator.
  • This position requires standing and walking for most of the shift.  This position requires lifting, bending, pushing and pulling.  Some pushing of reels will be necessary.  Most lifting is accomplished with material handling devices, i.e. reels movers, hoists, etc.   Throughout the shift, incumbent must handle reels and tooling weighing 150+ pounds or more.  

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • OJT - Will use company systems – SAP
