Job description

The primary role of the Pool Attendant at The Charleston Place, is to ensure all guests are greeted and served in a friendly and courteous manner using appropriate procedures, in accordance with restaurant standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Greet all guests with a genuine, warm welcome and use their names whenever possible.

  • Escort guests to their designated tables or poolside lounge chairs promptly.

  • Anticipate guest needs, respond quickly, and acknowledge every guest regardless of how busy the deck is.

  • Provide consistent, efficient, and courteous service that strictly adheres to Forbes Standards.

Poolside Operations & Setup

  • Set up, arrange, and maintain poolside lounge chairs throughout the day.

  • Distribute hourly amenities and refreshments to guests lounging by the pool.

  • Manage towel inventory by picking up fresh towels and returning soiled ones for laundering.

  • Stock necessary side stands with essential supplies to ensure smooth operations.

Food & Beverage Support

  • Assist food and beverage servers during busy meal periods to ensure timely service.

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, daily specials, and beverages.

  • Clear, bus, and reset tables quickly to keep the dining and lounge areas pristine.

  • Polish silverware and glassware to maintain luxury presentation standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with hotel guests, suppliers, and colleagues.

  • Provide friendly, efficient and courteous service to guests.

  • Proficient in memorizing and articulately explaining extensive food, beverage, ingredient, and daily special options to guests.

  • Ability remain calm under pressure, be organized, self-motivated and work well with others.

  • Possess a strong positive attitude and ability to initiate light conversation with guests.

  • Basic knowledge of Charleston and surrounding areas.

  • Good communication skills both verbal and written

  • Additional foreign language skills a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Must be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 30 pounds.

  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.

  • The role may require extended periods on your feet, especially during peak hotel hours or events.

  • Clear vision is important for reading reports, analyzing data, and overseeing Pool activities.

  • Good hearing is necessary for effective communication with colleagues, guests, and stakeholders.
