Job Summary
Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time, temporary position as an Adaptive Recreation Trip Assistant. In this position, clients participate in small and large group activities under the general supervision of the supervisor. This will include small and large group discussions, exercise programs, craft activities, audio/visual programs, etc.; follows appropriate program guidelines; adjusts activities to meet the client's abilities, interest, and needs; and reports changes in the client's abilities or needs to supervisor as necessary. The applicant will facilitate the full engagement of Adaptive Recreation participants in leisure and recreation activities. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, effective in communication, and will have experience working with individuals with disabilities.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
• PRCS, 742 Miller Drive, SE, Leesburg, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Helps clients with personal care needs and activities of daily living.
• Recommends program ideas, based on client experience; collaborates with staff to develop new program ideas.
• Transports participants, operates wheelchair lifts, and implements wheelchair tie-down procedures.
• May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.
*A flexible work schedule may include weekends and evenings *
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent; six months of driving experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• CDL - Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement preferred.
• Three (3) months of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Must undergo criminal background, DMV, and credit checks. Driver records may undergo an annual review to confirm their continued eligibility. Certification in First Aid and CPR for adults, infants, and children. Negative TB test results are required prior to beginning work.
