Job description

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Licenses/Certifications
SC-5 certification required. Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
Education
Master's degree in school counseling required.
Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes applications; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong skills in data retrieval, interpretation, and application; detail oriented and highly organized; ability to multitask; ability to work effectively with internal and external audiences; strong presentation skills; and knowledge of counseling skills and current trends and issues.
Work Experience
Five years K-12 public school experience with leadership responsibilities and experience in developing and implementing a comprehensive, data driven counseling program required. Experience with delivering high quality staff development that directly supports and impacts student academic achievement and aligns with district and counseling content standards (AKS and Counseling Standards and Competencies) and in areas of college and career readiness and crisis prevention preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Lead, develop, and support K-12 comprehensive, data driven counseling programming, including college and career readiness initiatives, online handbooks, and procedures for local schools within the district.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
1.  Consult with counselors, administrators, central office personnel, and outside agencies concerning counseling programs. 
2.   Manage program planning and data for the Department of Advisement and Counseling. 
a.   Facilitate steering committees in planning staff development based on End-of-Year (EOY) survey results and currents needs and trends in the counseling field. 
3.   Support counselors in implementing and sustaining the 21st Century Comprehensive Counseling program. 
a.   Assist school counselors in retrieving, analyzing, and interpreting student achievement data. 
b.   Support and guide school counselors in utilizing data to inform program delivery and management.
4.   Serve as the liaison between the Information Management and Technology Division and school counselors regarding student data collection. 
5.   Facilitate, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate staff development for counselors. 
6.   Provide support, collaborative, and consultative services to local schools, administrators, central office personnel, and outside agencies. 
7.   Develop and maintain positive working relationships between the district and community, post-secondary institutions, professional organizations, and the Communication and Media Relations Department. 
8.   Complete special projects as needed. 
9.   Perform other duties as assigned.
