Job description

Job Title: Detailer / PorterDepartment: ServiceReports To: Service Manager / Reconditioning ManagerFLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly
Job Summary:

The Automotive Detailer/Porter is responsible for the cleaning, detailing, and basic upkeep of new, used, and customer vehicles to ensure they meet dealership and manufacturer quality standards. This position also assists with vehicle movement on the lot, service drive support, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

Detailing & Reconditioning

  • Clean, wash, wax, buff, and polish vehicle exteriors and interiors.

  • Shampoo carpets, clean upholstery, and remove stains.

  • Clean and treat leather, plastic, and vinyl surfaces.

  • Perform engine bay cleaning when required.

  • Ensure each vehicle meets delivery-ready standards and quality checklists.

Porter & Lot Duties

  • Safely move vehicles to and from service lanes, lots, and reconditioning areas.

  • Assist with parking and organizing vehicles on the dealership lot.

  • Install add-ons such as floor mats, temporary tags, and plate frames.

  • Perform basic inventory checks and assist with lot organization.

Customer & Team Support

  • Greet and assist customers in the service drive when needed.

  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment.

  • Report any vehicle damage, concerns, or operational issues immediately.

  • Support other departments with vehicle-related tasks as requested.


Qualifications:
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.

  • Ability to bend, lift, stand, walk, and work outdoors in various weather.

  • Prior detailing or porter experience preferred but not required.
