Position: Long Term Substitute Social Studies Teacher
Location: Lewis Mills High School
Reports to: Building Principal
Starting Date: Start of the 2026-2027 school year through mid-November
Lewis Mills High School is looking for a dynamic and engaging Social Studies teacher to join a team of driven and innovative educators for the first quarter of the year. The Social Studies department at Lewis Mills is a collaborative and collegial group of educators who strive to instill a love for history and critical analysis. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their own knowledge, expertise, and ideas to the table. We value collaboration on problems of practice and frequently work together to brainstorm solutions to unique problems or patterns that arise. Our team of social studies teachers has the opportunity to meet several times weekly for a 9-12 teacher PLC, and there are several professional learning opportunities throughout the year. The position will focus on Global Studies in grades 9 and 10. Come be a part of our amazing team!
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold the following certification and have in-depth knowledge and experience in a combination of the areas below:
  • CT Endorsement 026 Secondary History and Social Studies certification
  • AP World History experience (preferred)
  • Microsoft Office 365 (specifically OneNote, Teams, etc.) (preferred)
