Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Agriscience
Assignment Dates: On or about August 17 through January 21
Location: Glastonbury High School
Position Overview:
Glastonbury ASTE Center, located at Glastonbury High School, is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Agriscience for the fall 2026 semester. The successful candidate will deliver instruction and maintain continuity of learning in a well-established program, supporting students in both classroom and laboratory/shop settings.
Courses Assigned:
  • Agricultural Mechanics
  • Animal Science
  • Foundations of Agriscience

Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with a dynamic team of AgriScience educators to teach a variety of AgriScience education courses in accordance with state, national and local standards.
  • Implement existing curriculum and lesson plans aligned to course standards and program expectations.
  • Deliver instruction that integrates hands-on, experiential learning in both classroom and lab/shop environments.
  • Supervise and ensure safe use of tools, equipment, and facilities in agricultural mechanics settings.
  • Facilitate student learning in topics such as animal systems, basic agricultural principles, and applied mechanical skills.
  • Assess student progress (including SAE) and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and department staff to support student success.
  • Uphold all school and district policies, including safety protocols specific to agricultural education environments.

Qualifications:
  • CT Certification Required
  • CT Teaching Endorsement 040 - Agriculture, PreK-12
    or
  • CT Teaching Endorsement 041 - Vocational Agriculture, 7-12
