Position Summary:
Operates school buses under all types of weather conditions. Transports students and other authorized person over regular "to and from" school routes, on fieldtrips, extracurricular activities, and special or extra activity trips as authorized by the school district officials. Serves as a courteous representative of the district on public roads.
Supervision and Controls over the Work:
The employee works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of a designated school administrator. The employee's work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, provisions of Washington Administrative Code and Revised Code of Washington, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards and expectations as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Transport assigned students to and from schools, shelters, transitional housing or other areas as necessary in a safe and timely manner.

1. Operate any and all school buses on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities, both within and out of school district boundaries.

1. Perform pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections as required by State and district policy and procedure.

1. Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of the Transportation Director and school building Administrator. Confer with parents when necessary.

1. Complete all records as required by State and district policy and procedures.

1. Operate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington and district policy and procedures.

1. Operate and maintain all school bus equipment and accessories, both inside and out.

1. Perform other school bus driver related duties as directed by district policy and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Minimum of five years with a private vehicle driver's license.

1. Must satisfactorily complete school bus authorization class, pass the DOT physical as well as the CDL training and testing.

1. Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with appropriate endorsements (B CDL with S1P Endorsement and air brake restriction lifted). License must reflect intra or interstate.

1. Successfully complete First Aid class with CPR training and possess a valid card.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.
