Job description

VOYAGE FOODS

Who We Are

At Voyage Foods, our mission is to make delicious, sustainable, and accessible foods that are better for people and the planet. All of our products work together to support and sustain a food system designed for everyone, now and into the future. We're a team of food scientists, CPG experts, and professionals with a passion for making good food available for generations to come.

What do peanut butter, chocolate, and coffee have in common? They're some of our favorite foods but are often inaccessible and unsustainable. That's why we created our Nut-Free Spreads, Cocoa-Free Chocolate, and Bean-Free Coffee. From food allergies to climate change and unjust labor practices, the foods we love are in serious need of an upgrade. Our future-proofed foods are always top-9 allergen-free, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, affordable, and most importantly, utterly delicious.

How We Work

We're a rapidly growing team of people who value diversity in all its forms. We love adding new perspectives and appreciate those who ask questions that help us challenge assumptions, explore new directions, and improve what we've already built. We are a group of like-minded difference makers. Curiosity drives our development. We have tenacity and a risk-taking mentality at every level of our organization to keep challenging normalcy. We believe it's our responsibility to create an environment in which every person can bring their full, authentic selves to work. We push each other to be our best and do our products proud.

Position Summary

Voyage Foods is looking for a Manager, Global Logistics & Warehouse Operations to own the movement and storage of goods from ingredient sourcing through finished-product delivery. This role manages our warehouse operations on the ground while coordinating an international logistics network that spans ingredient imports, co-manufacturing partners, and outbound distribution to customers. The right person is equally comfortable walking the warehouse floor at 6 a.m. and negotiating a freight contract at 2 p.m. someone who builds disciplined, standardized processes (we run on Toyota Production System principles) and leads people through them, not just around them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end logistics planning for global ingredient imports and domestic finished-goods distribution, including carrier selection, freight negotiation, customs/import compliance, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Lead day-to-day warehouse operations: receiving, put-away, inventory accuracy, pick/pack/ship, and cycle counting, with direct accountability for safety, cleanliness, and throughput.
  • Build and maintain standard work for warehouse and logistics processes, applying TPS/continuous-improvement principles (5S, PDCA, visual management) to drive measurable gains in cost, speed, and accuracy.
  • Manage relationships with freight carriers, customs brokers, 3PLs, and international suppliers; negotiate rates and service agreements that balance cost, reliability, and lead time.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and traceability across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, including lot tracking to support food-safety and quality (SQF) audit requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Sales/Demand Planning to align inbound material flow and outbound distribution with the production schedule.
  • Own import/export compliance documentation and ensure organic, allergen, and other regulated product streams are segregated and traceable through the warehouse.
  • Hire, train, and lead warehouse and logistics coordination staff; set daily/weekly performance metrics and hold the team accountable to them through daily management (tiered huddles, visual boards).
  • Manage logistics and warehousing budget; identify and deliver cost-reduction opportunities in freight, storage, and labor without compromising service levels.
  • Lead root-cause problem solving on service failures, damage, shrinkage, or delivery exceptions, and drive corrective actions to closure.
International Shipping & Trade Compliance
  • Manage end-to-end international shipping for inbound ingredients and outbound product, including ocean, air, and cross-border truck freight, booking, routing, and carrier/forwarder selection.
  • Own Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification for all imported and exported goods, ensuring accurate duty calculation, correct country-of-origin determination, and consistent classification across product lines.
  • Prepare and review import/export documentation commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, and customs entries and serve as the primary point of contact with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Maintain compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, denied-party/restricted-party screening, and applicable trade agreements (e.g., USMCA), including recordkeeping that satisfies audit and recall traceability requirements.
  • Monitor duty drawback, free trade agreement eligibility, and tariff exposure, and flag cost or compliance risk to leadership before it affects a shipment or a customer order.
  • Stay current on changes to import regulations, tariffs, and country-specific requirements that affect Voyage Foods' ingredient sourcing and finished-good exports, and update internal procedures accordingly.
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers, international freight forwarders, and trade compliance consultants; lead the response to any customs hold, audit, or compliance inquiry.
Customer-Facing Logistics Coordination
  • Serve as the primary logistics point of contact for key customers on order status, shipment tracking, lead times, and delivery exceptions communicating proactively rather than waiting for a customer to ask.
  • Coordinate directly with customer supply chain, purchasing, and receiving teams to align on delivery windows, routing guides, EDI/ASN requirements, and any customer-specific compliance (e.g., retailer or distributor chargebacks/OTIF requirements).
  • Own resolution of customer-facing shipping issues damaged freight, short shipments, missed windows including root-cause communication back to the customer and internal corrective action.
  • Partner with Sales and Account Management to set realistic delivery commitments during order intake, and flag capacity or logistics constraints before they become a customer-facing problem.
  • Build and maintain customer-specific shipping profiles (packaging, labeling, routing, and documentation requirements) so orders go out right the first time.
Inventory Management
  • Own inventory accuracy across raw materials, packaging, WIP, and finished goods, with clear ownership of cycle counting cadence, discrepancy investigation, and reconciliation against the ERP/WMS.
  • Maintain full lot traceability from receipt through shipment, supporting mock recalls, SQF audits, and customer/regulatory traceability requests within required timeframes.
  • Set and manage inventory targets (safety stock, min/max, reorder points) in partnership with Demand Planning and Procurement to balance service levels against carrying cost and shelf-life/FEFO requirements.
  • Drive FEFO/FIFO discipline on the warehouse floor and manage slow-moving, aging, or hold/quarantine inventory to minimize write-offs and waste.
  • Own physical inventory counts and annual/periodic audits, including coordination with Finance on inventory valuation and variance reporting.
  • Identify and resolve root causes of shrinkage, damage, and inventory discrepancies, and implement process controls to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure imported and organic/allergen-controlled inventory is segregated, labeled, and tracked separately to maintain compliance and prevent commingling.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in logistics, warehouse, or distribution management, including at least 2 years in a direct people-leadership role.
  • Experience coordinating international/import logistics ocean or air freight, customs brokerage, and import documentation.
  • Working knowledge of HTS classification, customs entry processes, denied-party screening, and U.S. import/export compliance requirements; Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist credential a plus.
  • Experience in a customer-facing logistics or order-fulfillment role, comfortable owning a shipment issue directly with a customer through to resolution.
  • Hands-on experience with a WMS and ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar), including inventory/cycle-count management; comfortable working in spreadsheets and reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of food or CPG manufacturing environments, including lot traceability and regulatory/food-safety considerations (SQF, HACCP, or similar), is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience applying lean/continuous-improvement methods (TPS, Six Sigma, or similar) to warehouse or logistics operations.
  • Strong negotiation skills and comfort managing carrier, broker, and vendor relationships directly.
Physical Requirements & Travel

This role requires regular presence on the warehouse floor, including time in temperature-controlled storage areas, and the ability to walk, stand, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Some travel (estimated 10-20%) is required to visit co-manufacturing partners, ports, or distribution points as needed.

Why Voyage Foods

You'll have real ownership over how product physically moves through our business, in a company that takes operational discipline seriously and gives people the room to fix what's broken. This is a highly visible role that partners directly with plant and executive leadership.

Voyage Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
