We are currently recruiting for the position of Assistant General Manager, Operations.
Reporting To: General Manager of Operations and/or Supply Chain Manager
The Assistant General Manageris a pivotal role supporting the General Manager in overseeing site operations including warehouse management, transportation, labor planning, budgeting, facilities, inventory control, and customer service. Together, these roles are instrumental in fostering a seamless 24/7 operation, driving continuous performance improvements, and nurturing the growth and development of employees.
Responsibilities are outlined as follows:
Operational Management:
  • Supervise the daily activities within assigned departments, guaranteeing an efficient workflow that aligns with established company standards.
  • Closely monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to pinpoint areas ripe for enhancement, executing corrective measures promptly as necessary.
  • Efficiently manage staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage and productivity throughout all shifts.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations to provide constructive feedback and support to direct reports.

Team Leadership:
  • Inspire and lead teams to meet and exceed operational objectives through motivation and authoritative guidance.
  • Train and cultivate new talent within the operational teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Proactively resolve conflicts to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Delegate tasks and empower team members, encouraging autonomy and decisive action within their roles.

Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for optimization to improve overall performance.
  • Initiate and implement process enhancements that drive improvements in quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop standardized procedures across departments to ensure consistency and excellence in operations.

Strategic Planning:

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in distribution for a high-volume customer.
  • 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience overseeing a complex, dynamic organization of 100+ employees.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, well-equipped to identify and tackle operational challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement methodologies.
  • Proven relationship-building skills.
  • APICS Certification and knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma practices a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio).
  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory control, and logistics software.
  • Willingness to travel periodically as required for this role.
