Job description

Job Summary:Perform various transportation and logistical services of the network through the application of SAP/TM. Construct efficient and cost-effective daily routes of delivery trucks to ensure the prompt and on-time delivery of orders to our customer locations. The Logistics Planner provides support to our DCs relative to transportation and delivery requirements. Interact with internal and external customers and suppliers.Perform logistical, administrative, clerical, and support functions for the business unit. Perform additional duties as determined by the business unit manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create, manage, and process daily deliveries and shipments for DCs and x-docks.
  • Perform product delivery/shipment creation and management.
  • Route delivery trucks from DCs and Cross-docks to customer locations efficiently and cost-effectively by minimizing transportation costs.
  • Coordinate Full truckload, LTL, and transfer movements.
  • Coordinate inbound shipments.
  • Coordinate and assist with parcel and customer pick-up orders.
  • Manage paperwork flow for all aspects of deliveries, including reverse logistics.
  • Interact daily with a variety of personnel and customers, including drivers, warehouse personnel, operations support, customer care, sales consultants, vendors, and various management/corporate level positions to ensure smooth workflow and communication.
  • Assist the business unit manager with special projects and analyze departmental reports as requested.
  • Usage of mapping and other appropriate software applications.
  • Process and manage daily return/exception paperwork from all DC/Cross-docks
  • Review for accuracy and prepare invoices for payment.
  • Be willing to work overtime.
  • Maintain appropriate data captures for reports and analysis.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, rules, and guidelines.
  • Comply with all elements of the Core Values and use the Quality System, including ISO procedures, ISO measurements, the customer complaint policy, process improvement, and best practices to deliver total customer satisfaction.

Experience and Education Required:

Required (R) or Desired/Preferred (D)

(R) Read, Speak, and Write English

(R) High school diploma or GED

(R) Proficient with PC and Microsoft software applications

(D) One year certificate from college or technical school, or three to six months

related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education

and experience.
