Job description

Logistics Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of transportation, logistics, and supply chain operations preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Utilize Transportation Management System (TMS) software to manage daily inbound and outbound shipments, maintain accurate ETA records, and update internal systems with estimated warehouse arrival dates.
  • Monitor shipment activity and proactively communicate delivery delays, failed loads, OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) issues, scheduling conflicts, and other disruptions that may impact operations or costs.
  • Source and secure competitive transportation rates through spot market bidding platforms and established carrier relationships.
  • Negotiate freight rates and service agreements to support cost-saving initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a key point of contact between Operations, Purchasing, Carriers, Vendors, and Branch locations regarding shipment status, delays, and issue resolution.
  • Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly transportation and performance reports.
  • Prioritize workload based on operational needs, delivery requirements, and business impact.
  • Identify and address root causes of delivery delays, including carrier performance issues, vendor scheduling challenges, loading/unloading inefficiencies, and communication gaps.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transportation performance, service levels, and cost management.
