Job description

Who We Are:
Porter Logistics is a fast-growing third-party logistics (3PL) provider redefining modern warehousing and fulfillment. Headquartered in Atlanta, we've grown over the past decade from a two-person operation in a 10,000-square-foot warehouse to an organization supporting more than 1 million square feet across multiple Georgia facilities.

We're trusted by some of the world's most recognized brands, but here's what really sets us apart: we build careers, not fill roles. Many of our leaders started in entry-level positions and grew with us.

This is a tight-knit team where leaders know you by name, your work creates visible impact every single day and hard work gets rewarded with real opportunities. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and want your decisions to directly drive results, keep reading.

The Role:

As the Shipping Lead, you own outbound. Every order that leaves this building is your responsibility. You'll lead the daily shipping operation in a high-volume, 95% LTL facility, partnering with the Outbound Lead to solve order issues in real time and ensure every shipment is right before it rolls out the door. You'll review shipping paperwork, check in drivers, confirm loads are correct and step in on the dock to help when the operation needs it.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You won't manage from a desk. You'll be on the floor, in the details and setting the standard for your team every day.

Typical Hours: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM

What You'll Earn:

  • $50,000 - $55,000 / year
  • Competitive medical, dental and vision plans
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Overtime opportunities

You'll Thrive at Porter If You:

  • Take personal ownership over outcomes, not just tasks
  • Stay calm and solutions-focused when the floor gets chaotic
  • Hold yourself and your team to a high standard every shift
  • Want to grow with a company that promotes from within
  • Lead by example, including picking up a pallet jack or jumping on a forklift when the team needs it

We May Not be the Right Company for You If:

  • You manage from a distance and avoid the dock
  • You struggle to make quick decisions under pressure
  • You're looking for a slow-paced, low-stakes environment
  • You're not comfortable being accountable for daily outcomes

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Oversee the successful outbound shipment of all daily orders, ensuring accuracy and on-time execution
  • Partner with the Outbound Lead to identify and resolve order issues before they become shipment delays Review all outbound shipping paperwork for accuracy and compliance prior to departure
  • Check in drivers, verify load assignments and confirm each driver departs with the correct orders
  • Oversee the loading team and assist with loading when volume or staffing requires it
  • Monitor the outbound operation throughout the shift and adjust resources to maintain throughput
  • Identify and escalate process gaps, equipment issues or recurring errors to operations leadership
  • Uphold all company safety policies, SOPs and compliance requirements on the dock and floor

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a Shipping Manager/Outbound Lead/Dock Supervisor in a high-volume warehouse or 3PL environment (required)
  • Strong background in LTL shipping operations and carrier coordination
  • Certified and proficient on both sit-down and stand-up forklifts (required)
  • Solid understanding of shipping documentation (BOLs/manifests) and outbound order accuracy requirements
  • Proven ability to lead a team and hold people accountable in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong communication skills with both floor staff and external drivers or carriers
  • Experience using WMS or shipping software platforms
  • Physical ability to work on an active dock, including assisting with loading when needed

The Hiring Process:

We value your time and are committed to a streamlined, respectful hiring experience. Candidates selected for further consideration will begin with a brief phone screen with a member of our HR team. If mutual interest is confirmed, you'll be invited for an in-person interview at our warehouse to meet the team and tour the facility.
