Overview
The Logistics Planner I is responsible for overseeing day-to-day truckload operations and supporting logistics activities such as RFPs, carrier documentation and TMS functionality. Key responsibilities include coordinating efficient truckload planning, managing day-to-day relationships with internal Leviton plants, distribution centers, vendors and carriers while executing daily truckload operations. Success in this role requires strong skills in operational troubleshooting, clear and proactive communication, and sharp attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Truckload Operations
  • Execute Leviton plant, distribution center and vendor load pickups by ensuring timely load tendering to truckload carriers.
  • Tender shipments, track activity, discrepancies, and required updates within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Enter accurate and complete load details to ensure carrier has all the correct information necessary to execute pickups and deliveries.
  • Track and resolve shipment exceptions, delays, accessorial issues, and other transportation-related discrepancies.
  • Coordinate recovery plans during capacity shortages, service disruptions, or other operational challenges.
  • Monitor carrier performance and escalate service failures as required.
  • Manage the execution of truckload pooling shipments from Leviton distribution centers.
  • Support occasional urgent load requests outside of standard business hours, as needed.

Communications
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Leviton location contacts to support timely outbound shipment pickups.
  • Develop the same rapport with each Leviton vendor and supplier with focus on supporting inbound material flow and avoiding production disruptions.
  • Manage truckload pickup requests received through the Leviton Transportation and Supplier team inboxes.

Logistics Activities Support
  • Support transportation sourcing events, including bid preparation, carrier communication, rate analysis, recommendation development, implementation, and performance tracking.
  • Maintain carrier qualification records, including operating authorities, insurance certificates, W-9s, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Master Transportation Service Agreements, and other required compliance documentation.
  • Provide proof of deliveries upon request.
  • Manage TMS Excel reports and take appropriate follow-up actions within the TMS.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the transportation network.

Team Collaboration
  • Crosstrain with other team members to promote flexibility and teamwide support.
  • Respond to operational requests and resolve logistics issues in a timely manner.
  • Support team operational requests and priorities, as required.

Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Teams.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify shipment issues, escalate concerns, and support timely resolution.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams throughout the organization, vendors, suppliers, and carriers.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and support multiple business needs simultaneously.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Supply Chain/Logistics or experience equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations, preferably including truckload shipment coordination or execution.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel to partner locations as needed
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred.
  • Experience planning or supporting a dedicated truckload fleet preferred
