For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in a parks- or land management-related field that included planning OR MA/MS Degree in Planning (Urban, Regional, City, Community, Parks) with minimum additional experience of 20 year(s) in outdoor recreation, park, trail or conservation planning

  • Social science/planning research, writing, and oral communication. Read and analyze electronic maps.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat
  • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign) experience is preferred. ArcGIS experience is desired, but not necessary.
Duties:

The planner will work closely with Midwest RTCA Project Managers and local partners through a collaborative planning process for master, management, comprehensive, strategic, and conceptual design plans on tasks such as: outdoor recreation and conservation related online research; analysis of demographic and facility data; writing research summaries, assisting with planning and implementing community engagement strategies, and creating public-facing documents. The planner will attend virtual meetings with project partners and participate in coordination with partners. The planner may also assist in mapping and publication layout.

  • Works with NPS RTCA staff to research and analyze local data and best practices on outdoor recreation and conservation related topics and writes summaries for inclusion in plans and other work products for project partners.   40%
  • Works with NPS RTCA staff to create public-facing documents and displays, such as posters, project fact sheets, plan summaries and tables and graphs.   20%
  • Assists with preparation for community engagement activities, such as: coordination with partners, logistics planning, and presentation preparation.   20%
  • Attends virtual meetings with RTCA project staff and partners. Site visits to project locations may be possible, but not necessary.   10%
