General Description:

The Purchasing/Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for assisting and coordinating all internal logistical support functions of the facility. This will be a dynamic position with multiple responsibility sets. The role will include placing & follow up on purchase orders, transportation management, verifying daily receipts, and ensuring returns properly processed in accordance with site guidelines. A major point of focus for this position is process improvement and material flow inside the facility by improving operational efficiencies and tracking/providing results of measurables to leadership while delivering solutions to reduce costs.

Primary Duties:

Purchasing:

  • Maintain accurate current costing from each supplier
  • Place purchase orders to suppliers & customers. Following up to ensure requested delivery date confirmation/acceptance.
  • Participate in Quarterly RFQ’s and vendor management reviews
  • Assist with establishing/fluctuating raw material inventory levels to support dynamic business changes
  • Review supply chain at risk (SCAR) materials with limited sources. Participate in action to mitigate risk
  • Create Pareto of higher volume material to review costing improvements
  • Ensure all expected receipts arrive daily. Communicate delivery failures to procurement/MRP/Inventory team immediately
  • Maintain contact list for each carrier/supplier and follow up proactively ensuring required deliveries arrive on expected dates or advise scheduling team of possible threats prior to expected run dates
  • Monitor & Track supplier delivery failures. Provide reporting back to supervision monthly for supplier management and service improvement
  • Manage supply chain project/sample request program to ensure all feedback to all parties and projects brought to completion
  • Source alternative supply channels of MRO & key material cost reductions


Transportation:

  • Issue RFQ’s to carriers to obtain lowest pricing/highest service level for collect or comparison for PPD& add purchases
  • Track carrier issues to eliminate/reduce expenses incurred by facility or its customers
  • Proactively communicate with & verify bulk carriers appointment times to ensure schedule kept and within reason.
  • Assist with TMS platform identification and installation to control freight costs
  • Manage delivery calendars for all warehouses in the company
  • Schedule internal trucking service for optimal utilization


General Duties:

  • Assist in internal communication improvement (sharepoint/ERP/email) to confirm all processes flowing smoothly and important information exchanged timely and materials distributed in expedient fashion
  • Drive process improvement for internal and external material flow by increasing speed of throughput, minimizing non value add steps, and maximizing effectiveness of equipment and personnel available.
  • Perform multiple roles and various duties/projects as assigned by facility management team
  • Assist with all inventories and help identify weaknesses/challenges in advance of becoming major threat to schedule achievement
