Job description

The Logistics / Dispatcher Coordinator will oversee day-to-day operations of the scheduling, delivery, and dispatching of petroleum products. This position works closely with fleet drivers, internal and external customers, and suppliers providing transportation/logistics expertise. The Logistics Coordinator is a solutions specialist providing operational support and strategic decision-making to increase customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, and meet business objectives.
Primary Job Duties:
โ€ข Manage and coordinate the movement of products between the various petroleum loading terminals and the customer's facility.
โ€ข Hire third-party carriers when BCI is unable to haul the load or if prior arrangements have been made with the carrier ensure acceptable common carrier load rates, communicate, and coordinate logistical operations.
โ€ข Accurately maintain and distribute daily pricing to customers using QMS system.
โ€ข Provide drivers with accurate suppliers based on company guidelines using DTN, contracts, or other specifications.
โ€ข Manage inventories for specified customers using the tools provided by the customer.
โ€ข Monitor markets to predict, plan, and execute daily purchasing, product movement, and driver assignments.
โ€ข Plan and direct drivers on where and what product will be purchased.
โ€ข Ensure drivers can access all customer and terminal information, resources, and tools for loading and unloading products.
โ€ข Contact internal customers (i.e. bulk plant facilities) and external customers to determine petroleum needs and to solicit additional product delivery.
โ€ข Establish trust and confidence with drivers, customers, and terminal employees through ongoing communications, providing accurate, and timely follow-up.
โ€ข Maintain dispatch information in dedicated systems.
โ€ข Monitor workload and available hours of service to ensure DOT compliance with drivers.
โ€ข Review the driver's paperwork to ensure complete and accurate.
โ€ข Provide feedback on driver performance when requested.
โ€ข Document and communicate driver issue(s) with Operations Manager.
โ€ข Actively and quickly communicate issues regarding employees, fleet, and product safety.
โ€ข Complies with all regulatory agencies including DOT, EPA, and OSHA as well as company policies.
โ€ข Keeps all customer information confidential and only uses customer information in the context of assigned duties.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Preference:
Education:
โ€ข High School diploma or equivalent required.
โ€ข College degree from an accredited university or college preferred.
Experience:
โ€ข Two to Three years of transportation industry and terminology experience preferred.
โ€ข One to two years of excellent relationship management skills, negotiation skills preferred.
โ€ข One to two years of understanding of customer needs and market requirements preferred.
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations:
โ€ข Current Driver's License preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
โ€ข Ability to read, write, and understand English required.
โ€ข Ability to communicate with internal and external customers professionally and courteously.
โ€ข Knowledge of U.S. geography required.
โ€ข Basic mathematical calculations ability required.
โ€ข Ability to read maps, schedules, and road signs, and maintain reports required.
โ€ข Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Internet, and transportation-related software experience preferred.
