JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring storage and distribution of goods. This position has responsibilities of supervising and coordinating the activities of employees working in shipping and receiving, material handling, and packaging.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer services
  • Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers
  • Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
  • Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments
  • Supervise, coach, train, and delegate warehouse workforce
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Coordinate and manage day to day activities of material handling department employees
  • Recognize, diagnose, and solve problems
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
  • Maintain various files and records – both computerized and hard copy files
  • Contribute to a positive atmosphere of cooperation, productivity, and loyalty to organization
  • Responds proactively to performance concerns, discipline, and employee complaints
  • Develops and maintains a clean and safe working environment for self and employees
  • Consistently maintains acceptable level of productivity in department

  • Record of successful distribution and logistics management
  • Previous experience as a manager, supervisor, coordinator, or relevant position
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent

Licenses, Permits, and Certifications

  • Forklift certification

  • Knowledge of packing, shipping, and receiving methods
  • Experience in industry procedures, costs, and terms
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects

  • Selection of carriers and third-party services
