Job description

Job Overview
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating domestic and international air, sea and land logistics operations to ensure on‑time, cost‑effective, and compliant movement of goods. This role provides day‑to‑day leadership to the logistics team, manages relationships with carriers and freight forwarders, and drives continuous improvement in logistics processes, systems, and vendor performance. 
 
Responsibilities
·         Supervises daily activities of logistics specialists, providing guidance, training, and coaching feedback.
·         Leads the planning and execution of cost efficient domestic and international shipments, including routing, mode selection, consolidation, and carrier assignment.
·         Ensures compliant export and import documentation for all shipments.
·         Monitors shipment status and resolves delays, discrepancies, or service failures.
·         Manages relationships with freight forwarders and transportation providers
·         Solicits, reviews, and negotiates quotes to achieve cost savings and service improvements.
·         Evaluates carrier performance and recommends provider improvements or changes.
·         Ensures adherence to trade compliance, DOT, IATA, IMDG, and other regulatory requirements.
·         Leads continuous improvement initiatives to optimize shipping efficiency, reduce costs, and improve accuracy.
 
Skills/Requirements
  • 5+ years of logistics experience with at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Experience managing domestic and international shipments by road, ocean, and air, including cost/benefit analysis of transport modes.
·         Working knowledge of import/export documentation and customs processes for commercial goods; strong compliance mindset.
  • Hands‑on experience with an ERP system such as Oracle, SAP, or MS Dynamics.
  • Will be required to pass DG DOT/IATA/IMDG certification within 90 days of employment if not current holder of DG certification
