Job description

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced, bilingual (Spanish and English) highly motivated, hands-on Warehouse Operations Manager to assist in our Miami Warehouse. The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse with particular emphasis on the management of the warehouse personnel and the implementation of warehouse action plans. This role manages or assists in managing a warehouse that totals between 100,000 and 500,000 sq. ft. The tracking and recording of equipment hours, assurance that equipment maintenance schedules are followed, and employee meetings are conducted.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • May hire and train new staff or assist management with this process.
  • Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
  • Assists the Manager with employment actions, including discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Assists in developing a program to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness.
  • Matches the skill and background of personnel to work required.
  • Develops and maintains a productive staff by creating programs for hiring, training and professional development.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ensures the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the warehouse to meet service standards.
  • Ensures proper labor coverage for daily workload.
  • Develops and ensures compliance with both internal and external SOPs.
  • Develops and implements shipping and receiving work schedules and assignments to assure effective and efficient operations.
  • Makes recommendations to the Warehouse, Facility or Branch Manager on programs to improve warehouse operations.
  • Interacts with customer daily and attends regular customer meetings.
  • Directs the operations of the warehouse personnel to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Develops and implements daily plan for allocating equipment to jobs.
  • Responsible for the management of equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of equipment with local vendors.
  • Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with customers and ensures that all personnel do the same.
  • Supervises all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of warehouse / mechanical equipment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations and the willingness to become certified in one or more of these areas as necessary.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use sound judgment in stressful situations.
  • Experience with seasonal work forces is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with developing and implementing performance metrics and process improvement.
  • Excellent talent management and team building skills.
  • Experience with writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is essential
  • Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed by the customer.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of hands-on supervisory experience in a multi-client, 3PL warehouse, fulfillment and distribution facility
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (CargoWise preferred)
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.
  • Lift and move totes up to 50 pounds.
  • Walking in the warehouse and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
  • Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation and able to access all areas of building without limitations.
  • Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
