Job Description
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our full-time Vascular Neurologist, you will be integral to the operations of a world-renowned stroke neurology team at CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. This exceptional opportunity offers outstanding prospects for a fellowship-trained vascular neurologist interested in working in a high-volume practice at the forefront of the field of vascular neurology. Our DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center, consistently recognized as the #1 Best Regional Hospital in Chattanooga by U.S. News & World Report for 11 consecutive years (and TN's #4), and holding a consistent 'A' Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, provides an unparalleled environment for clinical excellence and acute stroke research.
Every day you will contribute to one of the largest and most organized stroke referral networks in the US, leveraging our strong neuro hospitalist, neuro interventional, and neurosurgery components, all unified under a single, highly collegial Institute of Neuroscience. Your work will typically involve a 7-on/7-off schedule, with the flexibility to focus primarily on the stroke service or to share your expertise between acute stroke and general neurology services, emphasizing both stroke diagnosis and secondary stroke prevention. For those interested, opportunities to be involved in the outpatient stroke clinic and even work towards a leadership position within the stroke program are supported, alongside robust Research & Innovation through the Chattanooga Center for Neurologic Research and the Neuroscience Innovation Foundation, and extensive collaboration with CommonSpirit Health's national neuroscience program and partners like Baylor St. Luke's in Houston, TX and Barrow in Phoenix, AZ.
To be successful in this role, you must be Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in neurology with a fellowship in vascular neurology, bringing a passion for advanced stroke care and a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with a broad spectrum of vascular neurological conditions within our high-volume practice.
  • Providing expert clinical care within our world-renowned stroke neurology team, enhancing our DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center operations.
  • Collaborating closely with a large team of clinicians specializing in stroke neurology, neuroimaging, neurocritical care, neurointervention, and neurosurgery.
  • Executing acute stroke research, including artificial intelligence, device, stem cell, and other pharma clinical trials, with exceptional clinical research support.
  • Managing inpatient stroke patient care through a shift work schedule, with potential for outpatient stroke clinic involvement.
  • Utilizing expertise in shared services between acute stroke and general neurology, with a heavy emphasis on stroke diagnosis and secondary stroke prevention.
  • Participating in Academic & Growth Opportunities, including teaching and/or research on a local, regional, or national level, supported by our strong academic affiliation.
  • Fostering strong collaborations on clinical and research protocols nationally through our direct tie to CommonSpirit Health.
We are offering an excellent compensation package, a favorable call schedule, a commencement bonus & relocation assistance, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health and wellness benefits, 401k with match, malpractice insurance with tail coverage, CME & allowance, and potential eligibility for federal student loan forgiveness.
Job Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board-eligible/Board-certified in Neurology
  • Completed a Vascular Neurology fellowship program
  • Ability to obtain an active medical license in the state of Tennessee
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS and BLS certifications
