Job description

We have a new need for a Registered Nurse - Urology Clinic at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska

Job Specific Details and Tasks:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients receiving evaluation and treatment within the Urology Clinic.
• Perform patient intake activities including obtaining vital signs, reviewing medical histories, verifying medications, and preparing patients for provider evaluation.
• Assist urology providers during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including cystoscopy, catheter placement, prostate biopsy preparation, bladder instillation treatments, and other urologic interventions performed in the clinic setting.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures and identify potential complications or adverse reactions.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions in accordance with provider orders and nursing scope of practice.
• Provide patient education regarding urologic conditions, catheter care, medication instructions, post-procedure care, and treatment plans.Maintain sterile technique, adhere to infection prevention, and control practices during procedures.
• Coordinate patient care activities including referrals, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and follow-up appointments.
• Document all patient care activities accurately and timely within the electronic health record system utilized by the facility (e.g., MHS GENESIS).

• Participate in clinic quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and infection control activities.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, DHA, and DoD privacy requirements.
• Screen and triage telephone messages and forward to providers as appropriate.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 9 hours between 7:30am and 4:30pm, with a one-hour uncompensated lunch

No Weekends or Holidays

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Experience: Minimum one 1-year of post-grad RN clinical Outpatient Clinic experience (specialty clinic or urology experience is preferred) within the last 3-years
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license from any state.
  • Life Support Certification: Maintain current AHA or ARC BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications. May obtain same during the first two months of employment.
  • Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
