Job Overview: AIMS is seeking skilled Inpatient-Pharmacy Technicians to join our team and provide high-quality pharmacy services at Brooke Army Medical Center - BAMC. The successful candidates will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in inpatient, outpatient, and oncology pharmacy settings, ensuring adherence to The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
Responsibilities:
General Duties:
  • Assess patient responses to drug therapy and plan drug therapy based on physician-established diagnoses.
  • Receive and review prescriptions, including controlled drugs, on the pharmacy formulary.
  • Assess patient responses to prescription or non-prescription drugs according to established agreements and protocols.
  • Coordinate with prescribers to clarify issues with dosing, interactions, or instructions as needed.
  • Prepare replenishment orders, receive incoming stock, check for discrepancies, and rotate medication stock and supplies.
  • Enter medication orders into an electronic healthcare system and review for allergies, interactions, and duplicate orders.
  • Perform standard assays on finished products, verify ingredients, labeling, and ensure a pharmaceutically elegant product is dispensed.
  • Operate, maintain, and assist with pharmacy equipment, including PYXIS machines and point-of-use medication cabinets.

Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Duties:
  • Prepare sterile products and perform pharmaceutical calculations for various preparations.
  • Adhere strictly to sterile procedures and maintain equipment.
  • Prepare and fill physician orders for IV solutions, parenteral, and inpatient unit dose orders.
  • Perform maintenance on equipment to ensure sterility of IV products.
  • Participate in quality assurance data collection and review.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience within the last five (3) years as an inpatient, outpatient, or oncology pharmacy technician
  • Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a similar program, including military training programs.
  • Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), or CHPhT
  • Current active certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American red Cross only

Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
