CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  2. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. 
  3. The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
  • One (1) year of full-time-equivalent experience in maintenance and repair of locks and door hardware or related work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires climbing ladders, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and participates in repairing locks using hand tools and other equipment.
  • Coordinates the ordering, purchasing and installation of locking mechanisms and door hardware.
  • Cuts duplicate keys and maintain a log of keys issued or returned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of the procedures and methods for cutting keys
  • Knowledge of the procedures and methods of installing, disassembling, and repairing locks
  • Skills in installing, disassembling, and repairing locks
  • Skills in operating a key-cutting machine
  • Skills in using a lock pick to open locks
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
