Job description

Position Summary

  • Lead the Accounting team to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient financial reporting and exceptional client service.
  • Oversee accounting operations for homeowner associations, including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, resale and disclosure, and community transitions.
  • Provide technical accounting expertise, leadership, and strategic direction to support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee teams responsible for financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, resale and disclosure, and community transitions.
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff to promote high performance and continuous professional growth.
  • Develop and deliver regular training and technical guidance to Community Accountants and Community Managers.
  • Ensure effective, accurate, and timely financial reporting for assigned homeowner associations.
  • Perform monthly peer reviews of financial statements to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
  • Manage a small portfolio of community financial statements.
  • Coordinate with banking partners on all banking-related matters, including account setup and maintenance, Positive Pay, Lockbox services, and other treasury management functions.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to achieve strategic initiatives and operational objectives.
  • Serve as the escalation point for accounting questions and resolve issues with community management teams and Boards of Directors.
  • Support the timely completion of annual audits, reviews, and other attest engagements.
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms to facilitate the timely filing of association tax returns and maintain complete tax records. Ensure tax payments are timely processed.
  • Attend Board of Directors and Finance Committee meetings as needed to present financial information and answer accounting-related questions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Community Managers, Board members, auditors, and internal business partners.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve accounting issues while recommending process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, governing documents, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Promote continuous improvement of accounting processes and operational efficiencies.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • HOA, property management, or community association accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

If driving is, or becomes, a requirement of the role, it is required, at all times, that you hold a valid state drivers license for the class of vehicle you are driving, maintain a clean motor vehicle report, and hold current automobile insurance at statutory limits. You must notify Human Resources immediately regarding any change to your motor vehicle standing. CCMC may periodically review motor vehicle reports to ensure compliance with these requirements.
