Lockbox Payment Processor

Available Schedules:

Monday- Friday | 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM

Sunday–Thursday | 8:30 PM – 5:00 AM

Saturday- Sunday | 6:30 AM- 5:00 PM

Position Summary

The Lockbox Payment Processor is responsible for accurately processing incoming customer payments in a high-volume banking operations environment. This role involves opening and sorting mail, extracting checks and remittance documents, preparing deposits, entering payment information into proprietary banking systems, and ensuring all transactions are processed according to client specifications, quality standards, and established procedures.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and able to maintain accuracy while working efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open, sort, and process incoming mail containing customer payments.
  • Extract checks, invoices, and remittance documents from envelopes.
  • Separate, sort, and prepare payments for deposit according to client-specific procedures.
  • Accurately enter payment amounts and other required information into proprietary computer software using a PC.
  • Review and follow detailed account instructions to ensure all transactions are processed in accordance with client requirements.
  • Prepare check copies for re-association when applicable.
  • Match and re-associate check copies with invoices and envelopes by assembling documents according to customer specifications.
  • Prepare completed payment batches and outgoing mail for return to clients.
  • Meet or exceed established productivity and quality standards while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Identify and report processing discrepancies or issues following established procedures.
  • Perform work in accordance with departmental policies, processing procedures, and security requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately perform repetitive tasks in a production environment.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Dependable with strong attendance and punctuality.

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience in banking operations, financial services, payment processing, lockbox processing, mailroom operations, document processing, accounts receivable, cash application, or data entry.
  • Experience with 10-key data entry and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience working in a high-volume production or operations environment.
