Job description

The Design Engineer/Detailer will create and provide detailed 3D models from 2D drawings into SolidWorks. The position requires thorough knowledge and proficiency in drafting and design using SolidWorks and CAD. Experience with steel fabrication, tool Install and/or manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Create 3D models from 2D drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Accurately detail in accordance with materials and verify product costs to determine the best product selections.
  • Prepare the shop drawings and CAD files required for internal and external production needs.
  • Work with PMs to submit RFIs as needed.
  • Works well with tracking and following up on information and schedules.
  • Review the drawings and models for any errors or options that can affect the project prior to sending the job out for production.
  • Believes in continuous improvement and becoming better.
  • Works wells independently and in a team and collaborative environment.
  • Self starter.
  • Has a customer oriented attitude and is mindful of who their work impacts and works to provide needed information and quality of work.
  • Send files/drawings to the PM to coordinate production.
  • Other duties as required by location manager.
Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of job-related experience, degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience using SolidWorks, Autodesk Products and Revit.
  • Ability to interpret meticulously detailed blueprints/plans.
  • Experience with industry-related software: Microsoft office complete, BIM360, SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication procedures and detailing standards preferred.
  • Detail-oriented; deadline conscience; goal-driven; works well under pressure; problem solving oriented; works well in fast paced environment.
  • Accurate mathematical skills are required.
  • Experience with PowerFab is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with Vista software is a plus, but not required.
