General Description


The Head of Injection Molding leads all injection molding operations, including people, processes, production planning, assembly, tooling, quality, material flow, and continuous improvement. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant production that meets customer requirements while driving OEE, yield, and cost improvements. The Head of Injection Molding oversees team leaders, technicians, setup teams, and partners closely with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain and Lean Engineering.

This position also manages localization projects, drive actions to increase machine utilization, OEE and productivity, including automation, and lead insourcing projects

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Lead and manage the daily Injection Molding production to ensure customer demands are met
  • Define and develop projects and process to increase utilization, OEE and drive cost down
  • Lead insourcing and localization projects, in cooperation with igus HQ in Cologne, Germany,
  • Responsible to meet safety and quality requirements and standards
  • Provide technical support for the day-to-day production activities.
  • Establish, standardize, control, and improve new and existing injection molding processes.
  • Manage a team of process technicians and process specialists.
  • Implement, manage & oversee continuous improvement initiatives on the plant floor.
  • Investigate tooling, equipment, and material improvements to improve uptime, throughput, cost effectiveness and quality.
  • Drive Production Planning and attainment.
  • Drive Productivity improvements, including automation projects
  • Establish effective working relationships with multiple departments to maximize project management success.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, ensure that accurate documentation is always provided.
  • Train production personnel on new and revised processes.
  • Ensure Injection Molding facility is up to standard and code.
  • Work with quality and operations personnel to ensure ISO compliance.
  • Machine and Tool maintenance

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's Degree, Electronic or Mechanical / Industrial Engineering preferred
  • 3-5 years in a management role with strong customer focus and ability to lead teams
  • 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in injection molding with in-depth knowledge of plastic processing, machinery, and equipment, including robots (automation)
  • Experience with Arburg Injection Mold machine is a plus
  • Track record of training and developing high-performing teams to succeed in growth-oriented atmosphere.
  • Machine and tool maintenance experience
  • Strong trouble shooting experience
  • Experience with tools such as SPC, PFMEA, and DoE, Lean and Six-Sigma
  • Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple tasks
  • ERP/MRP System experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
