Job description

Position Summary:
Responsible for purchasing activities relating to supplier safety, cost, quality, delivery and service for production parts and new model parts development at HMMA.
Essential Functions:
  • Track, measure, and improve part related Supplier Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Development (S-QCDD) key performance indicators.
  • Select, develop, and manage supply base for production parts, components, and systems by: - Preparing Requests for Quotation (RFI/RFQ) for multi-year full production quantities - Negotiating long-term agreements and maintaining competitive pricing - Leading yearly cost reduction activities - Monitoring and improving supplier safety, quality, and delivery performance
  • Enhance supplier safety, part quality, and delivery, as well as reduce risks.
  • Write action reports related to effective countermeasures for part quality defects.
  • Continuously expand expertise in automotive component function, supply chain, quality control, and manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate the results of supplier process audits and put forward corrective suggestions.
  • Devise ideas together with R&D from the initial product development stages, as well as develop parts together with suppliers.
  • Formulate and implement yearly commodity and supply base strategy based on Annual Purchasing Value and all other relevant factors.
  • Explore available technology and implement best practices related to purchasing activities.
  • Evaluate part designs with engineering, quality, and suppliers to obtain optimum efficiencies.
  • Plan, organize, track, and disseminate information related to production suppliers.
  • Maintain up-to-date supply base information database.
  • Perform localization activities by identifying target parts for localization, sourcing local suppliers for new and existing vehicle projects, and formulating and implementing localization commodity and supply base strategy.
  • Support alignment of business plan themes and mature the negotiation performance and cost management organizational operating model that optimally supports HMMA and HMG operating infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups and individuals, effectively manage stakeholders, resolve issues, conduct advanced problem analysis, problem solving, and decision-making capability.
  • Ensure purchasing maintains competitiveness in which all potential suppliers are treated impartially, honestly, and consistently.
  • Perform cost studies with comparative analysis.
  • Ensure any changes in design of components are approved through 4M (Man, Machine, Material, Method) HMMA process.
  • Work closely with suppliers to optimize supplier processes by identifying inefficiencies and other areas of loss and develop / implement viable countermeasures through (PDCA) system.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.

Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
Related Experience:
  • 0 - 10 years job related experience preferred
  • OEM or parts components supplier experience desired

Skills / Knowledge:
  • Proficient computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • SAP or equivalent ERP system(s) desired
  • Business / Technical Writing: Crafting and delivering professional emails, reports, proposals, and presentations to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible way to various audiences.
  • Negotiation and Persuasion: Effectively communicating ideas and influencing others.
  • Communication: Possessing a broad and nuanced vocabulary to express complex idea, demonstrating strong grammatical accuracy and fluency. Speaking and writing English with confidence and ease utilizing clear enunciation and appropriate tone.

Additional Information:
Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
