Job description

Position Summary... What you'll do...Role summary:
As Walmart Marketplace continues to expand its international seller experience, we are seeking a full-time Manager – Localization Specialist (zh-CN) to own linguistic quality and manage end-to-end localization initiatives across product, marketing, support, legal, and operational content. This manager level role combines hands-on language expertise with project and program management, including intake, scoping, planning, prioritization, stakeholder coordination, risk management, vendor oversight, reporting, and workflow optimization. The role will serve as the primary linguistic and operational point of contact for Simplified Chinese and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, Operations, and International Markets.
About the team:
The Localization team enables Walmart Marketplace to deliver relevant, high-quality seller communications to global audiences. We partner with Marketing, Product, and cross-functional teams to manage translation, localization, and quality assurance across owned channels, ensuring content is accurate, culturally appropriate, and delivered consistently to support seller engagement and business growth.
What you'll do: Linguistic Quality & Market Ownership
  • Translate, edit, and review high-priority English content into clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate Simplified Chinese across Seller Center (web and App), Marketing Communications, Marketplace Learn, and other Marketplace channels.
  • Review translations delivered by external vendors and provide final linguistic approval based on accuracy, fluency, terminology, tone, brand voice, consistency, and cultural relevance.
  • Apply Mainland China language conventions and ensure appropriate terminology, register, syntax, punctuation, typography, date and number formats, and cultural references; identify when content requires market-specific adaptation rather than direct translation.
  • Own and maintain translation memories, glossaries, style guides, language quality standards, and review protocols in partnership with international teams.
Project & Program Management
  • Manage localization projects from intake and requirements gathering through scoping, scheduling, translation, review, quality assurance, launch, and closeout.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent workstreams, balancing launch deadlines, business impact, localization SLAs, and vendor capacity; identify and escalate blockers early.
  • Lead cross-functional working sessions and communicate clear requirements, timelines, tradeoffs, and launch-readiness status to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track delivery, quality, and operational metrics and use findings to improve planning, execution, and stakeholder visibility.
Quality Control, Vendor & Issue Resolution
  • Perform in-context linguistic quality assurance for digital experiences and audit content to identify untranslated, inconsistent, truncated, culturally inappropriate, or functionally incorrect content.
  • Triage localization issues, distinguish linguistic defects from product or engineering defects, document root causes, and coordinate resolution through the appropriate teams and systems.
  • Train, calibrate, evaluate, and provide actionable feedback to external linguists and vendors; ensure quality, terminology, and SLA expectations are understood and met.
  • Serve as the Simplified Chinese (zh-CN) quality gatekeeper and market advocate for launches, escalations, and high-visibility content.
Tools, Workflow & Process Optimization
  • Operate localization workflows across translation management, project tracking, content management, and marketing systems while maintaining accurate request, status, and delivery records.
  • Create and maintain Airtable tickets and Jira tickets to support intake, prioritization, issue management, reporting, and stakeholder visibility.
  • Support localization workflows in Crowdin, LILT, HubSpot, and Contentstack, partnering with Product and Engineering to troubleshoot integrations, content handoffs, and delivery issues.
  • Identify recurring defects, manual steps, bottlenecks, and process gaps; standardize documentation, improve automation, and help scale localization operations across markets.
