JOB SUMMARY

We support federal agencies in advancing the United States Health Care System and improving the overall health and well-being of those who serve or have served our country. Our information technology support services is designed to help people live healthier lives.

Widescope is embarking on a multi-year modernization journey across multiple federal programs. Accordingly, we are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer/Software Development Engineer in Test who will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites across web, mobile, and API-based applications. For this crucial role, he/she must bring experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter and Gatling, and possesses knowledge of containerization and cloud platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure. Holds ISTQB or equivalent certification.

The right candidate will execute and manage various testing types including:

  • Smoke Testing: Validate basic functionality after builds.
  • Sanity Testing: Confirm rationality of minor changes or bug fixes.
  • Regression Testing: Ensure new changes don t break existing functionality.
  • Retesting: Verify that previously failed tests now pass.
  • End-to-End Testing: Validate complete workflows across systems.
  • Integration Testing: Test interactions between integrated components.
  • Ad Hoc Testing: Perform exploratory testing without formal test cases.
  • API Testing: Validate RESTful and SOAP APIs for functionality and performance.
  • QA Testing: Collaborate with QA teams to ensure overall product quality.
  • Performance and Load Testing: Assess system responsiveness and stability under load.
  • Security Testing: Identify vulnerabilities and ensure data protection.
  • Compatibility Testing: Verify application behavior across browsers, devices, and platforms.
  • Accessibility Testing: Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
  • Localization Testing: Validate language, formatting, and cultural accuracy.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Support stakeholders in validating business requirements.
  • Customer Testing: Facilitate external testing feedback loops.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into test plans and test cases.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs and issues through resolution.
  • Triage and support production incidents and participate in developer on-call rotations.
  • Establish, track, and monitor quality metrics, presenting to leadership for alignment
  • Continuously improve test coverage, tools, and processes to ensure high-quality releases.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of quality across the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with other SDETs and engineering leadership on formulating and driving standardized test strategy across multiple products.

Role Requirements:

  • Experience leveraging AI tools in the software development lifecycle in order to improve quality and efficiency.
  • 3+ years of experience in software testing and test automation.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript).
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Highly Preferred:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems (MIS) or other related field with an emphasis in MIS. In lieu of formal degree, equivalent combination of education, experience and/or applicable military experience may be considered.
  • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
  • Knowledge of containerization and cloud platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure).
  • ISTQB or equivalent certification.
