What is a success manager?

Success Managers, often called Customer Success Managers (CSMs), are professionals who work to ensure that customers achieve their desired outcomes when using a company's products or services. They build strong relationships with clients, provide onboarding and training, and act as the main point of contact for resolving issues and gathering feedback. Success Managers also help identify opportunities for customers to gain more value and may work with sales or support teams to improve the overall customer experience. Their main goal is to drive customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term loyalty.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a success manager?

To thrive as a Success Manager, you need strong relationship management, customer service acumen, and a solid understanding of the product or service, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce, data analysis tools, and project management systems is typically required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and proactive listening skills help you build trust and anticipate client needs. These abilities are crucial for ensuring client satisfaction, driving retention, and fostering long-term business growth.

How does a success manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to support client outcomes?

Success Managers regularly work with departments like Sales, Product, and Support to ensure clients achieve their desired outcomes with the company's products or services. This often involves coordinating onboarding processes, communicating client feedback to product teams, and working alongside support to resolve any issues that arise. Effective collaboration helps build lasting client relationships and drives continuous improvement. Success Managers also participate in regular meetings with these teams to align on goals and share insights, making teamwork a core part of the role.

Job description

Job Summary:
This is a great next step for someone with 2-4 years of customer-facing experience - in customer success, onboarding, account coordination, or customer support - who is ready to own a book of customers.
The Associate Customer Success Manager is responsible for driving product adoption, ongoing usage, and customer health throughout the customer lifecycle. This role proactively monitors assigned accounts, identifies and resolves product-related risk, and partners closely with the Renewals team to ensure a coordinated customer experience - with the CSM owning the product and value-realization conversation and the Renewals team owning the commercial relationship.
The CSM seeks to understand and align client goals with the ClickDimensions solution, creating client advocates and helping drive business outcomes through continually unlocking the value of our product offering.
ClickDimensions CSMs are the customer's strategic advisor on product and marketing outcomes, thinking about alternative approaches to help solve problems and advise on solutions that deliver value.
Job Description:
Associate - Customer Success Manager
Location: Atlanta, GA (Peachtree Dunwoody Rd) - Hybrid
Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 base + 30% variable (OTE $65,000-$78,000), based on experience
Who We Are
Are you passionate about marketing, technology and helping businesses connect with the right people at the right time? As The Marketing Cloud for Microsoft Dynamics™, ClickDimensions exists to make revenue technology simple, affordable and accessible so every company can drive growth through better customer engagement.
We believe that growth creates opportunity for the individuals, companies and communities we serve.
Customer Success Team
At ClickDimensions, Customer Success sits at the heart of how we help customers grow with confidence - the connective tissue between our customers, our product, and the rest of the business. We believe healthy customers are growing customers, and getting there means understanding what success looks like for each customer, building trusted relationships across their organization, and partnering closely across Sales, Onboarding, Product, Support, and the Renewals team to advocate for what customers need.
What We Are Looking For
We're looking for someone with a couple of years of customer-facing experience who's ready to challenge themselves and keen to keep learning. You're still early in your Customer Success journey, comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment, and curious about using AI and automation to work smarter and deliver value faster.
The opportunity for career growth, genuine personal impact and being a master of your own professional destiny awaits the right candidate. If you're hungry for a role and organization that allows you to bring your whole self to work, rewards initiative and has a bias for action - we may be for you.
If you enjoy solving problems, telling meaningful stories with data, and turning satisfied customers into advocates, this role offers a strong foundation in Customer Success.
Your Day to Day
  • Responsible for helping define the content and processes for Customer Success now and through future growth

  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Onboarding, Product, Support, and the Renewals team to ensure a seamless, consistent customer experience

  • Partner with an Onboarding Specialist to ensure a smooth handoff of the client through the initial setup of ClickDimensions

  • Serve as the marketing automation and best practices consultant for new customers by guiding them through ClickDimensions Success Planning, understanding their goals and aligning ClickDimensions with those goals

  • Define and agree upon success criteria with the customer, and map the customer's journey toward them

  • Proactively monitor client accounts based on their defined success plans, tracking product adoption, feature usage, and health score trends, and provide guidance/advice based on marketing best practices as needed

  • Deliver training, enablement, and support escalation coordination to drive adoption and reduce time-to-value

  • Prepare and conduct regular success checkpoints, and lead the product/adoption portion of QBRs (quarterly business reviews) with key client contacts to ensure adoption of and success with ClickDimensions, provide recommendations for improvement, and realign on customer goals

  • Actively manage a book of customers efficiently, remaining organized and prioritizing customer escalations appropriately

  • Identify at-risk accounts from a product/usage standpoint and own resolution of that risk; flag commercial risk to the Renewals/Account Management team promptly

  • Partner with the Renewals team throughout the customer lifecycle - sharing health and adoption insight ahead of renewal, surfacing cross-sell opportunities (without owning deal-closing), and participating in joint account planning

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to ClickDimensions clients on product usage and marketing outcomes

  • Serve as the voice of the customer internally - sharing insights that help shape Product priorities and long-term roadmap - and identify advocacy and reference opportunities

  • Use existing systems, data, and emerging technologies - including AI - to spot trends, anomalies, and opportunities to enhance customer value

What You Bring to ClickDimensions
  • 2-4 years of customer-facing experience in customer success, onboarding, account coordination, customer support, or a related client-facing role

  • Clear understanding of, or strong aptitude for learning, marketing and sales processes and best practices

  • Ability to own and manage a book of customer accounts and relationships with growing autonomy

  • Comfortable presenting and running online customer meetings across levels of an organization

  • Strong self-directed work ethic and a genuine eagerness to learn and take on new challenges

  • Able to interpret and use data (adoption, usage, health scoring) to shape recommendations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to build trusted relationships, including cross-functionally with commercial/renewal partners

  • Curiosity about new ways of working, including using AI and automation to work more efficiently and deliver value faster

  • Familiarity with tools such as a CRM (e.g., Salesforce), health-scoring or customer success platforms, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI/Tableau) a plus

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study strongly preferred

  • Marketing automation experience or client-side marketing experience a plus
