General Summary

Greenwood Credit Union has an opportunity for a mid-level professional interested in expanding their skillset to become part of our Commercial Lending team. This position reports directly to our Vice President of Commercial Lending and will work closely with other teams across the Credit Union.


We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Lender to join our dynamic team. This role is a unique opportunity to work with a leading financial institution and provide customized lending solutions to our clients. As a Commercial Lender, you will be responsible for managing a loan portfolio and building relationships with clients to drive growth and success. The Commercial Loan Officer

Essential Functions

  • Interviews applicants to determine loan requirements and gather pertinent information for loan applications.
  • Requests applicant credit reports, background checks, reference checks and other information pertinent to loan applicant’s evaluation.
  • Analyzes applicant’s financial status, credit, and asset evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan, establishes credit limit through written and/or oral assessment.
  • Resolves uncertainties relating to customer application information through inquiries with applicants or creditors.
  • Structure loans within loan policy. Approves loan within specified limits or champions loan opportunities to the credit department and/or Commercial Lending Vice President for proper approval.
  • Prepares financing proposals consistent with approval for presentation to the applicant.
  • Reviews loan documentation prior to closing for completeness and acceptance by the applicant.
  • Ensures timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Position will require commercial loan origination and commercial deposit goals.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with customers, bank staff, local professionals, centers of influence, and community organizations.
  • Participate in community and professional organizations and events.
  • Uses experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Underwrite and analyze credit and financial information to determine credit worthiness (as necessary)
  • Communicate loan decisions, terms, and conditions to clients and ensure loan documentation is in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Stay up-to-date on market trends and competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities and provide creative financing solutions
  • Provide excellent customer service and build long-term relationships with clients
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current lending policies, procedures, and regulation
  • Employees are responsible for complying with the Credit Union’s information security policies, procedures, and standards. This includes safeguarding member information, participating in required security awareness training, and reporting any suspected security incidents or vulnerabilities.

Requirements:


Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 5 years’ prior experience in a commercial lending environment.

General knowledge/background of loan and legal documentation; familiarity with commercial and SBA loan documents is a plus.

Strong interpersonal and written communication, customer service and relationship management skills.

Ability to evaluate and analyze complex financial statements and tax returns

Strong customer service skills and ability to build relationships with clients

Knowledge of regulatory compliance and lending policies and procedures

At least 5 years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or related field

Strong understanding of credit and financial analysis

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

Fluent in English; Bilingual a plus

Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel and internet navigation

Self-motivated and capable of working efficiently and with accuracy in a dynamic, high-volume environment with established productivity goals

Developed organizational and time management skills

Dependability and flexibility with work hours and work assignments

Ability to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week and overtime, as needed

Commitment to team environment, member confidentiality and outstanding member service

High degree of professionalism with positive and professional image and demeanor
