Government & Public Sector Sales Representative – Commercial Fitness Equipment

Location: Geneva, IL (Hybrid/Office)
Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us

We are an importer of commercial fitness equipment, currently supplying to regional dealers and distributors. We are seeking a motivated sales professional to expand our government and institutional business by developing new opportunities and managing public sector accounts.

Position Summary

The Government & Public Sector Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and managing sales opportunities with federal, state, county, and municipal agencies. This position requires experience navigating government procurement processes, responding to bids and RFPs, and building long-term relationships with public sector decision-makers.

The ideal candidate is a proactive business developer with experience in government sales, contract management, and institutional procurement.

Responsibilities

· Develop new business opportunities within federal, state, county, and municipal government agencies.

· Build relationships with procurement officers, contracting specialists, military personnel, parks and recreation departments, law enforcement agencies, correctional facilities, and public institutions.

· Identify and monitor bid opportunities through government procurement portals and cooperative purchasing programs.

· Prepare and coordinate responses to RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, Invitations to Bid (ITBs), and other procurement requests.

· Work closely with internal teams to prepare pricing, technical proposals, and supporting documentation.

· Manage projects from initial opportunity through contract award, installation, and customer follow-up.

· Maintain a strong sales pipeline and accurately track activities using CRM software.

· Attend government procurement events, industry conferences, and trade shows.

· Achieve or exceed assigned sales goals.

Qualifications

Required

· 3+ years of B2B or government sales experience.

· Experience selling to federal, state, or local government agencies.

· Knowledge of public procurement procedures and competitive bidding processes.

· Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

· Excellent organizational and project management abilities.

· Ability to travel within assigned territory.

Preferred

· Experience selling commercial fitness equipment, athletic equipment, public safety equipment, or other capital equipment.

· Familiarity with government purchasing programs such as GSA Schedule, Sourcewell, OMNIA Partners, NASPO ValuePoint, or state purchasing contracts.

· Experience with SAM.gov opportunities and federal acquisition processes.

· Existing relationships with military, public safety, parks and recreation, or government procurement professionals.
