Pay Type / Range:
Salary. $90,000 - $125,000 per year (based on experience, type of work, and qualifications). Bonus Program eligibility.
(This pay range is a good-faith estimate of compensation for this role.)

Job Summary: The Asphalt Maintenance Superintendent supervises and directs small paving and patch crews on job sites to ensure high-quality work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. They are responsible for planning and managing maintenance jobs, supervising repair crews, coordinating vendors, and ensuring that all equipment and facilities are operational, safe, and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
Other Requirements: All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References may also be checked. We participate in E-Verify.
Job Duties & Requirements:

  • Attend weekly scheduling meetings/schedule jobs.
  • Provide leadership and maintain a positive/safe working environment
  • Communicate with Estimators/PM's, General Contractors, Paving and Grading Superintendents about short and long term schedules.
  • Measure jobs for quantities, verify materials, order materials and communicate with plant manager about any asphalt order concerns.
  • Communicate with shop manager about rentals needs, equipment needs and any other equipment issues.
  • Communicate with trucking dispatcher about trucking needs.
  • Communicate safety issues, concerns and importance with crews.
  • Review schedule and personnel needs for specific jobs daily.
  • Mentor and educate employees on their job duties.
  • Approve field logs.
  • Conduct visits to multiple jobs daily.
  • Attend weekly scheduling and pre construction meetings.
  • Communicate with crews daily on job specifics
  • Mentor and train in employees.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in asphalt paving, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of paving equipment, techniques, and materials.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., email, scheduling software).
  • The ideal candidate possesses a valid Class A CDL driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds regularly (daily).
  • Regular attendance and overtime are required.
  • Must have knowledge of the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs.
  • Requires good vision for close tolerance work and any night work may be required.
  • Must possess a clean driving record and have a valid Minnesota Driver's License.
  • Must have the ability to hear, speak and follow directions carefully.
  • Continually required to reach, pull, carry, grab, pull, and lift.
  • Must possess both good strength and good endurance as work performed in all types of weather conditions.
