The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Commercial Loan Closer role in the Houston, TX area. The successful candidate will be reviewing the credit files and completing all necessary documentation for SBA packaging files.
The position includes a generous salary of up to $90K and an excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Commercial Loan Closer responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing and verifying loan documents including income, credit, appraisal, and title insurance, and ensuring the information is complete, accurate, and complies with Bank policies, and SBA Guidelines as well as meets underwriters’ requirements.
  • Working closely with a commercial lender, business development officer, underwriting, attorneys, document preparation, third-party vendors, and customers to prepare loan package closing.
  • Entering information into the loan operating system (LOS), following up, and communicating with both loan pre-closers and loan officers to obtain missing or updated documentation to process the loan file promptly.
  • Maintaining control over loans(s) in the process to detect any potential and/or developing problems and ensure all department managers are informed of any issues.
  • Review closing documents upon receipt from the bank attorney to ensure conformance with the approved loan terms and conditions.
  • Ordering and reviewing UCC/Federal/State/County preliminary lien searches, title commitments, flood search, appraisal, environmental reports, and requests for essential loan documentation as indicated by the credit underwriter.
  • Reviewing articles and by-laws/operating agreements, where applicable of partnership, corporation, and limited liability company (LLC).
  • Ensuring prompt payment of Guaranty fee in the SBA/USDA required time frame.
  • Reconciling equity injection and making final verification determination.
  • Review scanned loan documents on closed loan files assigned to you by VP/Closing Department Manager before it is given for final Quality Control (QC) review.
  • Following internal audit procedures to ensure files are properly documented and scanned into an electronic scanning system.
  • Working with the Loan Funding Specialist to ensure a smooth transition on construction and multi-disbursement projects.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (AA) from a four-year college or university and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending and SBA lending processes is required to assist in the preparation of this information.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with multiple people, multitask, work in a team environment, and manage an assigned pipeline to meet closing expectations.
  • Advanced knowledge of lending operations and closing procedures.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts to apply math concepts.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and understanding to carry out instructions and/or to solve problems with variables.
