Position Summary
The Counter Salesperson is responsible for increasing sales and customer satisfaction by efficiently and professionally assisting walk-in and telephone customers with product selection and purchases.
This is a hybrid role that combines counter sales and warehouse responsibilities. In addition to customer-facing duties, this position requires regular participation in warehouse operations, including stocking inventory, maintaining accurate inventory levels, pulling and staging orders, and ensuring materials are fulfilled safely and correctly.
Candidates must be comfortable working in both a sales environment and an active warehouse setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service and Sales
โ€ข Greet all customers promptly and professionally at the counter
โ€ข Assist walk-in and phone customers with product selection and order placement
โ€ข Promote stocked products and suggest alternatives when requested items are unavailable
โ€ข Apply product knowledge to identify customer needs and recommend solutions
โ€ข Determine when customer needs should be escalated to management or outside sales
โ€ข Maintain a clean, organized, and professional counter and showroom area
Warehouse and Inventory Responsibilities
โ€ข Stock inventory accurately and in assigned locations
โ€ข Maintain organized warehouse and product displays
โ€ข Pull, stage, and verify customer pickup orders, including showroom orders
โ€ข Accurately fulfill orders and complete second-check procedures
โ€ข Process customer returns both in person and via phone
โ€ข Assist with receiving shipments and working truck deliveries
โ€ข Support inventory accuracy and cycle counting as assigned
Team and Operational Support
โ€ข Attend and participate in team meetings and company events
โ€ข Follow all safety procedures and company policies
โ€ข Work hours as required to support business needs, including extended hours during busy seasons
Qualifications:
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent preferred
โ€ข Strong customer service and communication skills
โ€ข Basic computer skills
โ€ข Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
โ€ข Forklift experience preferred
โ€ข Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
โ€ข Must be 18 years of age or older
โ€ข Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
โ€ข Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift
โ€ข Comfortable working in a warehouse environment
Additional Requirements:
โ€ข Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, including marijuana, is required.
โ€ข CMC Supply maintains a drug-free workplace.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
