Overview
Job Purpose
Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) presents an opportunity for a full-time Senior Developer to join a team responsible for development of the platform for providing cutting edge AI and ML solutions across the enterprise. The Senior Developer will have experience in all phases of software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering, to design, coding, unit testing, debugging, and supporting in production.
The candidate will be a core contributor to the AICOE team, which is central to ICE's long-term strategy to deploy Generative AI technologies across the enterprise in a responsible and sustainable way. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience designing and developing solutions that leverage the latest advancements in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), full-stack web technologies, and enterprise data systems.
This position requires strong technical proficiency, sound problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated commitment to Applied AI Expertise, including the practical use of modern AI developer tools and agentic platforms in day-to-day engineering work. Strong written and oral communication is essential, as the candidate will regularly collaborate with diverse teams across the enterprise to design, deliver, and iterate on AI-powered solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and propose robust solutions for delivering AICOE projects within expected parameters of cost, time, and quality, with a focus on Generative AI and full-stack engineering outcomes.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and AI-powered platforms using modern web technologies (e.g., React, FastAPI, Node.js) and LLM integration frameworks, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Create and manage databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, taking full ownership of unit and integration testing for all functions created or modified, in accordance with AICOE coding standards and quality guidelines.
  • Work with project managers to compile a work breakdown structure of tasks for a given deliverable and provide realistic estimates for completing the assignment.
  • Collaborate with other Developers and QA Engineers to execute full cycle integration, functional, and regression testing.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability; proactively identify and propose better technical approaches as the AICOE platform evolves.
  • Engage effectively with business and operations teams to understand requirements, resolve design challenges, and ensure that AI/ML solutions are aligned with enterprise goals and operational needs.
  • Implement user-friendly and responsive front-end interfaces.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services, including LLM and Generative AI APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI), to extend AICOE platform capabilities.
  • Ensure cross-platform optimization for mobile and desktop.
  • Maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Stay current with the rapidly evolving Generative AI and LLM landscape; actively exercise Applied AI Expertise by using tools such as Claude Desktop, Claude CLI, Claude Code, Cursor, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini in day-to-day development, and share knowledge and best practices with the broader AICOE team.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Sciences, or a related field; equivalent professional experience with a strong portfolio of AI/ML or full-stack development work will also be considered.
  • Strong, proven programming skills in at least one general-purpose programming language such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
  • Proficiency in front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and back-end frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Node.js, Spring).
  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
  • Experience in data visualization and business analytics tools like Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI, or similar tools is beneficial.
  • Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working in Agile teams comprised of 5-8 cross-skilled engineers.
  • Solid understanding of version control tools (ideally Git).
  • Experience in applying web development best practices and implementing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with writing complex programs and implementing custom algorithms.
  • Experience beyond using open-source tools as-is, and writing custom code on top of, or in addition to, existing open-source frameworks.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI/ML and technical solutions clearly to stakeholders across multiple disciplines; comfortable working in a diverse, globally distributed team.
  • Experience working in an applied R&D or innovation-lab environment, operating with agile practices and a bias for rapid iteration; demonstrated Applied AI Expertise including hands-on use of agentic developer tools (e.g., Claude Desktop, Claude CLI, Claude Code, Cursor, Microsoft Copilot, or Google Gemini) and working knowledge of prompting techniques is strongly preferred.
