Livestock Nutrition Center specializes in blending customized rations, supplements and premixes to meet the specific nutritional needs of Livestock Producer's operations. We understand that management, performance objectives and feeding practices can be vastly different between operations, and that these differences dictate specific nutritional or formulation requirements. Our experienced sales staff and nutritionist will work with the Producer to design a feeding program that is specific to their operation.

Our focus is to provide customized feeding programs, nutritional products, and expert service to livestock producers that promote their long-term success and profitability.

Position Summary

The Sales Consultant will act in a professional sales role.  The salesperson will be responsible designing customized feeding programs and providing excellent consultative support to customers.  The Sales Consultant is responsible for being fully proficient in the entire sales process from lead generation, closing, and follow up.  This position will be filled by a well-rounded sales professional that effectively contributes to the operations of LNC customers by offering a broad range of knowledge and support in subjects that affect their business. This individual will develop and implement an agreed upon marketing plan which will meet both personal and business goals of expanding and deepening the customer base in the marketing area. They will work with the sales and support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with Livestock Nutrition Center’s company vision and values.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Fully understand and be conversant in LNC’s offering, selling points, and industry information to carry on a knowledgeable, helpful conversation about the ranching operation of the prospect or customer.

  • Will demonstrate the ability to work within a team locally and companywide.

  • Adhere to guidance and recommendation from the Location Sales Lead as it pertain to all Sales functions.

  • Effectively utilize nutritionist teams, marketing team, ingredient team, and other LNC company resources.

  • Demonstrate expertise of technical selling skills and product knowledge, having the ability to make effective presentation of LNC products and service.

  • Develop qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face-to-face cold calling on business owners, direct mail, email, and networking. Responsible for sourcing and developing client relationships and referrals and reporting such development on a timely basis.

  • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce CRM of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within their assigned territory.

  • Utilize Salesforce CPQ to track sales opportunities, prepare consultative quotes, and manage sales pipeline for designated customers. 

  • Demonstrate the ability to uncover useful competitive information, advantages, and practices in the field. 

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service.

  • Maximize all opportunities in the process of closing a sale with a goal of servicing the customer and building loyalty.

  • Possess the ability to train less experienced salespeople and equip them with the information to succeed within LNC.  This includes ensuring Sales Associates have a thorough understanding of pricing and proposal models, load/planner scheduling, trademark product recommendation, and how to represent LNC as a professional at industry functions or in the field. 

  • Participate and contribute to the development of educational programs offered to clients, prospects and company employees.

  • Possess a well-rounded understanding of relevant industry drivers and practical agricultural knowledge. 

  • Seek opportunities for continued education in areas including nutrition, animal health, agribusiness, and open markets.

  • Fully understand and be prepared to assist in the development of quarterly and yearly customer acquisition, retention, and growth plans in conjunction with Sales Leader, which detail activities to follow during the fiscal year, which will focus the Sales Associate on meeting or exceeding sales quota.

  • Handle customer complaints, issues, and objections with grace and finesse, leading to win-win scenarios and customer retention.

  • Assist in the implementation of company marketing strategies as needed.

  • Assist in the collection of Accounts Receivable through tracking and identification of potential risks.

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the team.

  • Work in conjunction with Location Managers and follow any operations protocol/guidelines from Location Manager of your assigned location.

  • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by management.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years industry experience following the completion of an undergraduate degree.

  • A basic understanding of Agricultural Business and customer & market dynamics through experience or education.

  • A willingness to travel and work within a team environment.

  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, and to move and handle boxes, which may entail lifting up to 25 pounds, and perform all functions as set forth above.

  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Maintain a mobile smart phone service with access to email and voice/data for company business.

  • The ability to communicate accurately and effectively.

  • Computer skills necessary to complete the job including proficiency using Microsoft office suites.
